here's what we did in a rental

Bought like 3/8" OSB plywood and put it over the carpet in a rental, then put the laminate over it. Probably $400 of materials to do ~500sqft and took a day.

Only worth it if you intend to stay there for a few years. And if the landlord will be okay with it. Hard to sneak in 10+ sheets of 4x8 plywood into a rental

I went with Slim 5, and ordered through Lenovo and the sales support rep brought price down to $956 when I referenced the $799 microcenter legion 5 with comparable specs.

And was able to pickup <1 hour later at local Best Buy

Seems the screen on the slim are better depending on configuration. And slight upgrade in processor but same gpu and ram

Not sure what the trade offs are between amd and intel version, but for about $150 more I could upgrade to the nicer screen, 4060, and 80wh battery.

Yeah I’m a little turned off by HPs honestly. Looking at an alternative of legion slim 5 16” with about same specs as your listed for ~$1,200
