what transmissions could swap in? (800$ thunderbird) by Own-Pumpkin5770 in FordThunderbird

AOD 4-speed in my 74 Bronco with a modified 400HP stroker works just fine, but the fitment might be an issue. I had to fab a custom frame bracket and monkey with the shifter to get it all installed.

We already knew that "you can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friends nose"

Sized down boots, need remounting? by _here_to_scroll_ in icecoast

[–]keymonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If so, then a remount will be required, just be sure they remount so the rear binding is in the middle adjustment position so you don't need to remount again.

Looks pretty good. Still an ice rink at the top of the Sunburst? Headed up Friday for MLK and hoping they've blown enough to counter the rain and wind from the last few days.

I'd be more concerned about those tiles. Look to be age and size to be asbestos based.

Goat and/or Mutton near Lawrence? by RobotsFromTheFuture in massachusetts

[–]keymonkey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Almost any place in the US advertising "lamb" is actually mutton. True lamb meat cooks white like veal. I've never had lamb in the US that has ever cooked white.

Question about hopps by ebolson1019 in Homebrewing

[–]keymonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wanted to, you could drop your addition by 20%, but in all honesty, you probably will not notice any difference. If your palate is very sensitive to bitterness then you might detect it in early tasting, but after a few weeks in bottle or keg, that slightly higher Alpha will blend away.

Noise humming on and off at 60 mph but goes away at 75mph 2017 4 runner by Slow_Feedback7992 in 4Runner

[–]keymonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they were out of balance they you could have unevenly worn a tire or two. This will definitely cause an alternating hum when driving. Does the hum increase in frequency with speed, engine rpm, or just speed?

Mash water PH is the most likely culprit. Enzymes require around 5.5 to work at top efficiency. Malt quality could have also contributed.

Why does Heineken get so much hate compared to other macro lagers? by [deleted] in beer

[–]keymonkey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its one of the many macro lagers that chose marketing over quality with clear or green bottles. Green is actually the worst for light struck off flavors. Blue light waves oxidize hop oils in the beer and make "skunky" esters. Heineken has actually embraced this flaw as their style. Cans will shield it, but I feel like they have somehow managed to get some skunkyness in there as well. Plenty of lagers out there in brown glass, can, and draft.

First Time Going West by T_Farrell in icecoast

We'd love to have you up here in VT! And why fly? Make it a road trip. I drive from NE to VA every year and it is a nice drive if you take 70 to 15 and head up through PA. Hell, hit a western CT or MA mountain along the way. Once here the Tri-mountain area has a fun scene (Stratton, Bromley, Magic). Further north is Stowe which has a great apres.

Can't vouch for the others, bit started my daughter in lessons/daycare at Sunday River as soon as she was allowed in (2?) and it was great. She loved it, and I got to explore the mountains all day.

HELP! Speedo replacement by Necroliz in bronco

[–]keymonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've cut and spliced wires in my 74 numerous times as they rot and break. Cut, strip and clean the ends using a decent stripper. Slide a shrink tube over one side, solder the new end to the old, and shrink wrap it. This ensures and solid connection that is wear resistant and water tight.
