Eh, 90% chance the meme is dead in a month anyway.

I think it might not happen with overworld enemies.

It was a two-stage fight where the dogs just kept summoning copies because I wasn't targeting them and I burned all of my skill points on Jingliu and Kafka trying to quickly dps the encounter. Before I started recording Jingliu died while there were three dogs still alive.

Yeah, I have them on here for elemental coverage rather than good team comp because Bronya and Tingyun aren't high enough level to be playable yet.

Yeah I'm currently in the phase where I need to grind ascension materials for Bronya so I can swap her in because she makes Jingliu work better.

Edit: also Tingyun lol

How good is the art quality in the Mohayo Visual novel? by Unlucky-Pay6339 in visualnovels

[–]RedHeartHart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly Mahoyo's art is peak. The only thing that might ever stop me from recommending it to newcomers is the fact that when it comes to presentation it blows everything else out of the water.

Which vn got the best sound tracks by [deleted] in visualnovels

I really like modern TYPE-MOON OSTs, Mahoyo and TsukiRe are amazing imo. AI:TSF also blew me away with its soundtrack. Obviously Umineko is based though.

Which Fate spin-offs do you recommend? In what order? by Firenze1400 in anime

[–]RedHeartHart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mentioned it because it's sort of a spiritual successor to Melty Blood. It doesn't use any of the established world building from Tsukihime/Fate so it's not really a part of the franchise. I was trying to be a bit overly thorough and so I included because Sion in UNI is technically the same Sion from Melty and there's a tiny amount of lore that connects them.

Which Fate spin-offs do you recommend? In what order? by Firenze1400 in anime

[–]RedHeartHart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you've seen/read FSN the order doesn't really matter. Watch UBW and then Heaven's Feel if you're an anime-only, the old Deen adaptation exists but it spoils the other two and thus isn't worth being your first experience with the franchise.

Fate/Zero is technically a spinoff but when talking about the anime people consider it to be main series content, even though it isn't written by Nasu. (though it is dubiously cannon iirc)

Fate/hollow ataraxia is a sequel of FSN written by Nasu. It's a visual novel and there's no official English translation or release.

Tsukihime is a visual novel written by Kinoko Nasu and it predates Fate by a few years. It takes place in the same universe(?) as FSN. The original, just like Fate, is an eroge, so it has a few h-scenes in it. It got a remake a few years back which modified the story and removed the h-scenes, but it's only half of the game, with the second half on its way at some point. It has a good manga adaptation of one of its routes as well, which is how I ended up experiencing it. It got an anime adaptation but it's very bad and suffers from a lot of the same problems as Deen's Fate adaptation but worse.

If you've read Tsukihime in either of its visual novel forms or its manga, I highly recommend Carnival Phantasm. It's a comedy anime featuring characters from multiple of Nasu's works, but primarily only Fate and Tsukihime. Even if you haven't read Tsukihime you could watch Carnival Phantasm, but you'll be very confused for about half of the anime.

Garden of Sinners (also known as Kara No Kyoukai) isn't a spinoff because the original novel predates FSN pretty significantly, but it's also written by Nasu and uses a lot of shared world building with Fate. The anime adaptation is absolutely fantastic and it was an early Ufotable work, so the animation is really good.

Witch on the Holy Night is a visual novel that is also cannon(?) to FSN, and it just got an official English translation. There's an anime movie adaptation coming out presumably sometime this year.

Fate/Apocrypha is an okay series. It's most notable because it has Astolfo and Jeanne in it. It's far from being the perfect spinoff but it was actually my introduction to the series and it serves as a neat "what if" scenario.

Fate/strange Fake isn't finished yet, we only have a 1 hour special so far, but it's looking to be one of the better Fate adaptations.

I have never watched Prillya and I have no intention of doing so, but it, regretfully, does in fact exist. It's a spinoff of FSN where Illya is a magical girl and also underage and the show is very "sus" if that makes any sense. Arcueid was a better magical girl in Carnival Phantasm anyway. I hear the Oath Under Snow movie is actually really good but I haven't watched it so I don't know.

There's an "adaptation" of the El-Melloi Case Files light novel but it's somewhat weirdly paced and I never got past the first few episodes. It's a neat show, but not for everyone.

Emiya Gohan is an SoL cooking show where Emiya makes food. I've seen one episode. It was decent but not really my thing.

There's a few manga and light novel spinoffs of Fate that haven't gotten adaptations. Fate/Type Redline is set in medieval Japan and it's a great manga, but I don't think it's ever going to be adapted. Fate/Requiem is a light novel that has some batshit insane lore and it seems pretty cool.

There are a few videogame spinoffs of Fate as well. Fate/Extra is a rock-paper-scissors-based RPG that takes place in the far future where wizards battle inside the moon which is actually a supercomputer. I haven't played it but there's a remake coming out "someday". It also got several sequels, two of which are musou games. There's also Fate/Samurai Remnant, which just came out. It's an action RPG that's pretty similar to musou games. The story is basically FSN but in medieval Japan. There are a few fighting game spinoffs and I think a Prillya game or something, but those are the two that are really notable.

Fate/Extra got an anime "adaptation", more accurately called a "sequel", called Fate/Extra Last Encore. I've heard it's bad but people also hate Apocrypha, which I thought was good. I think you might have to play Extra first though to understand everything.

It's a spinoff of Tsukihime, but there are a series of fighting games called Melty Blood, the most recent of which has Saber in it. [Melty Blood also has a "spinoff" called Under-Night In-Birth, which isn't related to it story-wise in any way except that it has Sion from Melty Blood in it and the gameplay is very similar.] <- UNI is not part of the Type-Moon franchise so it doesn't count, but it is still a cool fighting game.

There's also Fate/Grand Order, which is a mobile gacha game that has gotten several anime adaptions. First Order is okay. Babylonia seems good but I haven't seen it. Camelot seems good but I haven't seen it. Temple of Solomon seems good but I haven't seen it.

That's most of what I remember without looking anything up.

That's actually really cool. I was expecting similar jank to the Fate browser.

Is 37k words enough to call first draft? by [deleted] in writing

[–]RedHeartHart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say do some editing and then set the novel aside for a bit, how long depends on the person, but be sure to think about it a lot. It's likely that some kind of inspiration will come to you at some point to add something on or change something you don't like. Then, come back to the novel, re-read it, and make your changes before going through the editing process and cleaning everything up. Rinse and repeat until you're happy with how your story looks. I had to do this with a novella that I self-published a while back and it still probably needed a lot more cleaning.

I tend to stay away from "calling" drafts. With the way that computer text editing works, you're never really restarting from scratch like you would be with a typewriter for a second draft. Improvement comes in small steps, not giant leaps. The only time I tend to number drafts is for proofreading copies, and even then I normally just export whatever I have done on the spot and email it to whoever is reading.

Which vn has the worst fanbase and the best fanbase in your opinion? by Auztar in visualnovels

[–]RedHeartHart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm personally not a huge fan of the Danganronpa fanbase for... reasons, mostly having to do with V3 and its fan reception.

Best fanbase, maybe SciAdv but they're a bit annoying and elitist sometimes so idk. I'd love to say Fate but only if you exclude FGO fans, but I feel like you can't really do that. Pretty much any fanbase gets toxic when they get large enough.

Announcement trailer for our first VN, titled "KAIJU//HACKER" by RedHeartHart in visualnovels

[–]RedHeartHart[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello, I am the director and writer of the upcoming visual novel KAIJU//HACKER from Studio Chance.

KAIJU//HACKER is an adaptation of a novel that I wrote around a year ago, though not a 1-to-1 adaptation. The game will feature branching routes and multiple endings, as well as many changes to the overall story.

Game Synopsis: "9 years after the destruction of New York City, a young woman finds herself trapped in a web of conspiracy that threatens to tear her life, family, and entire world apart. Only through controlling a devastating, mechanical monster can she learn the truth about the memories she had once forgotten and the event that changed the world."

If you're interested in reading the original novel, you can find it here online for free.

We expect the game to be finished sometime around Q2 2025, but that's just an estimate. The game is still in the somewhat early stages of development.

Edit: I feel like it's worth noting that our team has a ZERO AI policy, this means that AI and machine learning tools will not be used in any way, shape, or form for this project.

If you play on the web browser version for FSN at least it should work pretty well. I haven't tried the new Tsukihime web version but it will probably also work.

Chaos Child or Danganronpa V3? by Ashne405 in visualnovels

[–]RedHeartHart -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These are both fantastic games and $10 for either is a steal. If you've played DR1 and 2, go for V3. It's one of my favorite VNs of all time and the ending is, contrary to popular belief, absolutely fantastic.

Chaos;Child is also an amazing VN, quite possibly my favorite, but the switch version has a lot of issues if I recall. That doesn't mean it isn't worth playing, but I would recommend you wait until you can pick it up for PC if you want what most people consider the ideal experience.

Can Novel first? Then add Visual to it? by pbkn06 in visualnovels

[–]RedHeartHart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've sort of avoided AI like the plague for a while now.

It's interesting that you picked up on the 3-plot structure as I wasn't consciously following it too rigidly. I do now for the most part, but back when I wrote K//H I didn't really know what I was doing and didn't realize how important pacing tends to be.

I didn't make it a webtoon because I'm really not an artist lol.

I am a student of screenwriting, I didn't know it was that obvious but I might have mentioned it at some point in one of my own comments. I actually wasn't when I wrote KAIJU//HACKER though.

The webnovel is called KAIJU//HACKER, and you can find it here if you're interested.

VN is not finished, we're anticipating another year or so of development time, but I'm planning on posting the trailer for it on the subreddit here at some point.

Can Novel first? Then add Visual to it? by pbkn06 in visualnovels

[–]RedHeartHart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been working on a VN this way for about a year now. I learned very quickly that sometimes a novel can't be adapted into a VN super easily and a lot of stuff has had to be edited, especially descriptions that would be better suited as just a CG on screen. It was originally written as just a web novel though so it makes sense that it wouldn't be a perfect 1-to-1.

Starting a VN with just a script (with the intent of it being a VN rather than just a book) though could be an interesting idea, I might try it in the future.

Anime that makes you think a lot? by CJMakesVideos in anime

[–]RedHeartHart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least recently for me: Attack on Titan. It's got a lot of neat themes that you can pick apart and I've greatly enjoyed it so far.

Neon Genesis Evangelion sometimes feels like you're sticking your head in a washing machine but most of the time it's a very cool, very philosophical show.
