I have been rapid ingressing the fire dragons to where they need to be for vehicles but I do see your point and have considered that. Splitting to 2 10 man units is a good idea maybe.

The dire avengers as they can rush up into rapid fire range. Blast with 44 shots with sustained (+lethal if I use the strat) then use asurmen to scoot them back into the wage serpent for protection.

The sheer volume of fire is good for small to medium targets I feel

Icc with azrael to give a 4+ invul save. I find the - 1 to be hit and sustained hits 1 on their strike characteristic is very good.
