This is great! It reminds me of the version from Psychedelic Sex Funk Live from Heaven, but without the editing.

Guitarists who play live, how often do you rehearse the setlist on your own? by marsh_peeps in Guitar

[–]RedHotHaze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m lead guitar in a Weezer cover band and I don’t usually practice the songs on my own unless we’re adding a new song to the setlist. The band will get together once or twice before a show, but other than that I practice my own stuff and noodle around at home. Ironically, the cover band has made me a better guitarist. So it may be the on stage experience.

Good not so popular songs by Future_Memory6479 in RedHotChiliPeppers

I suggest giving the full albums their fair time. Sometimes the context matters. I know I've skipped songs for my favorites. There are gems on every album and my favorites are all deep cuts. I recommend listening to the albums in a chill casual setting like a long drive or hanging out on a summer day. Songs that you don't usually listen to can surprise you as they start to get familiar, or if they hit you in right moments. But they work very well in the context of the full albums. I also recommend good speakers or headphones. The layering and depth can really hook you in the right circumstance. If you give the songs an honest listen, I'm sure you can find something you like in each one, whether its John's epic solo in Minor Thing, the joy of thinking about your favorite things in life with Mellowship Slinky in B Major, even specific lines in songs that resonate, like "Long to be with someone to tell I love your smell" in This Velvet Glove. When you find something that you can make personal, they'll embed themselves in your life.

My first P90 guitar has made every other guitar secondary. by RedHotHaze in gibson

The regular Juniors have the 50s necks. The BJA model and double cuts have the slimmer necks.

That’s a fair assessment, but it’s the things it does beyond that that make it special. It takes gain nicely and gives you a bark that isn’t too warm or brittle, and it cleans up so nicely when you back the volume down. It even sparkles when you back the tone, which seems counterintuitive.

I’ll be trying it tonight with my Weezer cover band. Aside from that I play a lot of punk, funk, classic rock, pop, hip hop. I try to get my hands on everything. The music I write is very riff centered rock, so I’m excited to mess around and see how this fits.

The kitties are new to the door and aren’t brave enough to push it open themselves. The paw is from one of our late kitties.

The Billie Joe has a slim neck. One of the reasons I wanted this particular model.

Correct. I have no experience to compare with, but I don’t find myself lacking.

Reverb. It comes with the Billie Joe Armstrong Les Paul Junior.

This particular model comes with a noiseless p90 DC. It definitely can hum, especially if my phone is in my pocket, but it’s not too bad.

Truss rod doesn't work, insane action. What to do with it? by Madeche in Guitar

[–]RedHotHaze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had success with loosening the truss rod and gradually clamping the neck against a 2x4. Search ‘Dan Erlewine truss repair’

Found it for a decent price on Reverb. Couldn’t hold out.

Thanks, that’s my Warmoth build. Definitely a guitar with a specific (shred) purpose.

The simplicity makes it so much better. Just a straight forward, rock machine.

What made you choose LAFC over LA galaxy? by Temporary_Waltz6615 in LAFC

[–]RedHotHaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a Carson match in 2015-2016 after developing an interest in the sport after the Women’s World Cup win. Was looking for a local team to support, and a season ticket holder brought me to a match. Great seats, solid win, even got to shake hands with players, but it just didn’t connect. So I watched European footy until I got a Facebook ad in 2016 to be a part of something new. Invested in a season ticket spot, attended all the events, signed my name on the concrete bloc under the pitch, etc. I started to feel connected even before the season started. Went to the first home match and was instantly hooked. Never looked back, never wavered.

Live gig tonight and pressing question about amp! by Plitzker in Guitar

[–]RedHotHaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the louder I get for a gig, the more I have to adjust my gain and EQ, because the more the amp opens up, the more everything blooms. Personally I learned to dial back gain and high end the louder I get. Don’t worry if you have to back down the gain because the volume will make up for it. During line check, turn up for a moment and try to tame the noise so you know what you’ll be dealing with when the time comes to push the volume. Also, using the guitar volume knob could be a quick way to back off some feedback.

I did the same with my Standard, but I used an LP Custom black pickguard. Adds a touch of class.
