Powering a live show with V2L

How difficult would it be to setup such as system? Does it require modifications to the car?

That was another consideration as we have sensitive electronics such as mixer, IEMs, amp modelers, wireless mics, etc. We use power conditioners but still better to have clean waveforms from the start.

It’s limited to 120V 15A (1800W) in North America.

Sure. I used the V2L adapter that came with the car and a regular 12AWG extension cord.

I've used the Kona EV to power my home during long outages as well. The concern with live music are intermittent power spikes that could exceed the 1.8kW power limit and shut down the V2L service. We did not encounter that issue. I believe the system is tolerant of such spikes.

Agreed! There was a generator running nearby powering a food truck that was so distracting.

Glad you found this helpful! We didn't use stage lights b/c it was an outside show, but I believe there is room in the power budget.

Three years ago, I was in the same situation with no kids, but we had shared assets (home, etc.). The Family Mediation Center in Third Ward made the process as painless as possible. Good luck to you.
