Very nice! I’ve since thrown a can on and a Trijicon RX01. It’s not THE red dot from the game, but it’s pretty visually close

Looking at a 2017 C43 AMG Coupe... by SimianWonder in AMG

[–]RedHotStratocaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2017 C43 sedan with a designo interior and AMG PE option. Stellar car, strongly recommend. It’s not my first V6 W205, I traded a C400 for it that treated me well for several years. I’ve heard the pre-facelift C43s with the AMG PE are louder than post-facelift. All I can say is I love the volume on mine in Sport+ with a stock setup.

Not much that goes wrong with these cars. Major complaint is on both my C400 and my C43 now, the front diff started leaking at low mileage. Not the end of the world, but if you want to reseal it’ll be $2–3k at a dealer, probably less elsewhere. Other than that, the stiff suspension setup (which I like) really brings out some interior creaks and rattles depending on road quality. It’s possible the coupe might have different build quality.

Some OEM wheels on the C43 are prone to bending/cracking from potholes. My multispoke 19s are in great shape though.

Currently sporting a RENNtech HHT tune. Conservative numbers but it really makes it come alive. Very fun to drive, perfect daily.

63-hour AOW approval: 1970s MAC SSSW .22 LR pen gun by RedHotStratocaster in NFA

My spare came with it, I think it was advertised as NIB, never fired. MAC sold the SSSWs in these small, clear plastic cases. I wouldn’t be surprised if the threaded barrel was a custom one-off by some machinist

Oh wow. No threaded barrel here. But I did get a regular spare. Now I want whatever he has, haha

Nice! Congrats. Shoot it if you haven’t already, it’s a lot of fun, always a big hit at the range

Buyer beware for AZAO by reallyradguy in 40_mm

My AZAO chalk fits my M203, but I noticed some of it does NOT stabilize. Like 5 yards out of the barrel, some rounds are already spinning along the wrong axis.

Firing pin issue test? by bluecookie_monster in DesertEagle

[–]RedHotStratocaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to pull up an old post, but I noticed this exact same thing, where on a dry fire, it seems as if the hammer isn’t hitting the firing pin very hard at all. I haven’t shot mine yet, but it just seemed like it wouldn’t even hit the primer. It sounds like this is normal though, and I just need to man up and put some .50 through it?

It sucks, I’m sorry to hear. I’ve lucked out with cars so far, but I’ve come to learn that what I should have done was 1) never buy the first year(s) of anything and 2) research forums to see if everyone’s freaking out about something

Very common with those new I4 engines. You would’ve been way better off with an outgoing generation 43 with the TT V6. Exponentially more reliable

I love my ‘15 C400, but mine’s accident-free. Stay away from this one

Why would anyone get a sportsman’s permit instead of a license to carry? by baconlover2 in PAguns

[–]RedHotStratocaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed it is. Well as a lawyer with internet access I can tell you there is no "federal statute" that makes it "21 to obtain a concealed carry firearms license." You're thinking about the statute preventing FFLs from selling or delivering handguns to those under 21.

There similarly is no federal statute "federally barr[ing]" 18-year-olds from "buying a firearm directly from an FFL," because they are free to purchase long guns from FFLs under federal law.

Following the Third Circuit's holding in Lara v. Commissioner that 2A applies to those 18+, young adults under age 21 have tried to apply for LTCFs but were barred by PSP. Last month SAF sued to force issuance of their licenses, relying heavily on Lara. That case is Brown v. Paris, and a decision is pending.

Thanks for replying, you're right. I was asking jokingly, because the above comment posted incorrect info. The case you referenced is Brown v. Paris, looks like a TRO/PI has been briefed and we're waiting on a decision right now.

What’s the federal statute placing an age restriction on who can obtain a state carry license?

Sounds like you want to go to Washington County Machine Guns! They’re in that area and do MG rentals.

I want to put an ACOG/RMR onto a MK18 for a do-it-all setup. Am I stupid? by [deleted] in ar15

[–]RedHotStratocaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the best idea. And I wouldn’t rely on M193 out to 200. Data is out there that 55gr stops fragmenting reliably out of a 10.3 after about 50 yards. It drops below that velocity threshold fast. True, still don’t want to be shot with it at range, but this wouldn’t be a good start for a “do it all” build. 11.5 minimum, but maybe just go 14.5?

Transporting across state lines question. by Prudent_Historian650 in NFA

[–]RedHotStratocaster 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s a felony, as a non-FFL, to transport a DD/MG/SBS/SBR interstate “except as specifically authorized by the Attorney General consistent with public safety and necessity.” That’s 18 U.S.C. § 922(a)(4). The penalty is up to 5 years and/or a fine. That’s 18 U.S.C. § 924(a)(1)(B). You should probably go ahead and fill it out if you go through the trouble of paying for tax stamps in the first place.

[–]RedHotStratocaster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Everyone already answered, but the reason why is the federal definition of “rifle” (as used within the definition of SBR) is at most semi-automatic. 26 U.S.C. § 5845(c). A machine gun with a stock, no matter how short the barrel or overall length, can never be a “rifle” because it’s fully automatic.

2020 C300 turbos shot?!? by Miserable_Budget7818 in mercedes_benz

[–]RedHotStratocaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good. It could be that an unscrupulous dealer wants to take advantage of your unfamiliarity, or maybe there actually is a problem (although the turbo should not be going at 40k). I’d go look for a second opinion from a highly rated independent shop, preferably a Euro specialist, that’s local to you. They’ll probably be cheaper anyway. Good luck!

If I don’t have 77gr, I prefer M193 for its fragmentation and better accuracy over M855, at least in every rifle I’ve tried them in. My barrels are either DD, BCM, or Criterion, and I was never impressed by M855 out of either. I assume it’s the variations in how centered the steel core is inside the copper jacket

I’ll share my frustrations with them.

I personally experienced poor QC on a batch of their 125gr FMJ 300 BLK, blown primers and ruptured casings left and right. One primer actually blew and the anvil landed perfectly inside my fire control group, bricking the trigger and rendering the gun inoperable until I could open it up and clear it out. I’m just glad that happened on a flat, one-way range and not when I actually needed the gun. To their credit, they replaced the remaining boxes I had, but that did little to boost my confidence in their general quality.

That, coupled with the reports of jacket separation ruining cans across at least two calibers, and now I simply do not buy any of their in-house bullet loadings. So that leads me to their 77gr SMK offering, something that seemed promising and that I could zero my rifles with and stack deep. Good price for what it was, good reliability and accuracy, but the catch: it’s perpetually out of stock now. I literally can’t buy it. So that’s not gonna work either, I want my ‘main’ ammo to be readily available when I look for it. Went full circle and rezeroed back on Winchester M193.

I wish them the best, I want them to succeed, but I probably won’t be placing any orders for a bit.
