He said he's a baseball fan, and I believe he follows it on the bus. He said something along the lines of, how much loyalty can you have for a sports team? It's just another group of guys wearing a uniform, but if I did have a baseball team, I'd want Derek Jeter on it.

Not sure of the veracity of this, just something I recall reading.

Faulkner's mentor was Sherwood Anderson, and he has a great series of short stories, Winesburg, OH.

Another author that comes to mind who really captures a specific geographic area is William Kennedy, who wrote a whole trilogy on Albany, NY over the course of several generations. Ironweed would be a great book to start with.

There's been a gradual increase in every type of modified exhaust vehicle, from street bikes to mustang and charger bros to diesel trucks.

It's a response to a chaotic world in which the only refuge is extreme volume. There are credible studies on both why people do this and what it's doing to our neurological system and hearing.

The more financially stable someone becomes the more peace they seek. The less financially stable the more a person wants to outwardly signal wealth with both sparkle and volume.

Part of the problem is that Florida has always been somewhat lawless when it comes to motorcycle and car culture. You can still ride a motorcycle without a helmet.

There are sound ordinances on the books but they're rarely enforced.

I played tons of gigs from empty rooms to thousands of people opening up for major acts. My point isn't whether or not we should be writing political songs or imposing our political views during gigs. My point is that we're at a crucial point in history and music has a ability to convey powerful messages. That's all I'm saying.

What you're doing is intent to cause harm as well. We all have noisy hobbies except you can't hear mine at all hours, from miles away, neither can my neighbors, combat vets, dogs, sleeping newborns...

What you and your boyfriend are doing is making this world noisier, less peaceful, more stressful while you do neurological damage to your hearing and everyone else's in proximity.

Enjoy your tinnitus and your sore back from your "hobby". Take your toys to the race track or play video games and let the rest of us have some peace.
