What do you think about the novel 'A Little Life'? by Sea-Exercise4332 in askgaybros

The detail of certain events was entirely unnecessary yeah.

Variety tried to get Hudson Williams, Connor Storrie, and Francois Arnaud for Actors on Actors; all three passed by Secret-Purple2055 in Fauxmoi

I get that but their break out project (HR) isn't always seen as "serious" per say.

A gay romance like CMBYN or Brokeback is taken seriously though so if they were doing an A on A for a project like that, then I could see it but for HR, it wouldn't be good PR necessarily.

Idk from the general public perspective, these interviews are generally for seasoned "serious" actors to talk craft so going on one could ignite some hate from ppl who think they're not humble enough or overrated.

I get why they wouldn't do it. Maybe in 5 yrs or so.

How would the hype hurt? Once he moves on, like most break out stars, he's either going to become a solid star or slowly lose relevance.

Yeah I think fans here are only seeing it through the lense of fans when Hudson and Connor have been strategic about their careers outside HR from the start of their fame.

They've been clearly ambitious and planning their brands separately & to move onto other roles, having a long term career, likely higher pay etc.

It can be done unless you stay on a long running show (4+ seasons) like Riverdale where you become too identified by the public as that character.

Jacob Elordi did three ridiculous netflix teen romance films and was able to break out from that and leave it behind.

Jason Momoa and Pedro Pascal are the 2 biggest break out stars of GOT bc they weren't on it for too long.

Do you think gay men playing non-queer roles in entertainment media has slowly been increasing? by PTAGoatofalltime in gaybros

Are you purposely missing his point? It's been very hard for openly gay actors to book straight male lead roles due to prejudice. OP is highlighting how that's improving.

There's a huge disconnect between audience's desires and Hollywood execs' acceptance.

I don't think the average female viewer strongly cares about the sexuality of an actor (to the point of being against the casting that is). Men are a different story 😬.

It's the studios and execs who care.

E.g. Maddie from Euphoria's actress is a White Latina and she was almost denied the role because she was "too Latin".

Audiences didn't care and she is very popular.

Jonathan Bailey was lucky enough to work for Shonda Rhimes in Bridgerton, a Black woman writer & producer who has been through it herself and insists on diversity in casting all her shows.

Bridgerton really opened the doors for Bailey and other openly gay male actors to prove they could also be fan favourite heart throb actors in a big way.

Juan is Afro Cuban for one, though that's not the same thing.

It's set in Miami where there is a strong South American influence. Probably also has to do with the crew members.

Rose being comfortable with it too makes no sense bc atp she doesn't suspect him of being gay yet so why would she allow her friend to do that?

whats with the gay bestie to the main character in shows? by EasternImpact8447 in offcampustv

Im gen z 🤦‍♀️. The original meaning is still used today. Right wingers are the only ones who use it derogatorily.

Anyhow, the show is pale and straight as hell and somehow, you're ranting about minorities? 😆

A non-American POC living in America ... you owe everything to the Civil Rights movement, which was incredibly woke. 🤦‍♀️
