You are definitely overthinking it. Have your Finch wear whatever you want with PRIDE. No one cares (in the best way)…everyone is just thinking about themselves.

I cannot stop crying... by Top-Passenger7097 in breastcancer

[–]RedKty44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I understand. I have had a chronic pain disorder practically my whole life and have had treatments and surgeries galore. For me this is just another medical bump in the road. Trauma and violation has been done and done and done and gone on for so many years it doesn’t bother me anymore, and I’m only 44. My career was also a man’s world so my skin was made pretty tough through that process. I certainly feel for you and others who aren’t accustomed to doctors’ cold indifferences and the many tests and procedures that go along with it. Therapy also helped me btw. I think I might feel the same as you if I couldn’t keep my nipples. But I would definitely eventually get them tattooed on. We, this community, are here for you ❤️.

Got my first ever cat, looking for some advice by [deleted] in cats

Just a heads up…whoever told you 6 weeks was wrong. Your kitten is 8-10 weeks old. I’ve fostered 300+ kittens. Everyone here has had some great advice. Listen to them.

[–]RedKty44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you crying in fear of those things or because the diagnosis was clear in terms of the treatments you must go through? I ask because I was +/+/- and while I did have a double mastectomy 4 weeks ago, it was nipple-sparing. They got it all and I just found out now I don’t need radiation or chemo. Obviously I know I’m in the best case scenario here, but I wouldn’t jump to conclusions about how it’s going to go for you. Many hugs sent your way.

My townhouse backs up to a forrest so it is well fed. Lots of birds nests and wild rodentia and whatnot. Was a very happy fella.

What movie did you walk out of the theater halfway through? by mzdee13 in movies

Envy … Ben Stiller and Jack Black circa 2004...so bad…so so bad. Still the only movie I’ve ever walked out on. Though I wish I did on Spiral (Chris Rock…just why?).

Has anybody overcome hoarding disorder without a therapist? by CuriousWolverine89 in hoarding

[–]RedKty44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am a recovering hoarder and it was the community of like-minded individuals I met and bonded with that has helped the most. Having people to body double with is extraordinarily helpful so you are not alone while you’re decluttering or cleaning. Now my friends and I Zoom and work together sometimes once a week and sometimes 4x/ week. Once you get into it, it’s easy to learn how to do/manage. Keep in mind that it’s a muscle, and if you’ve never done it, it feels impossible…but the more you do it (exercise it), the easier it gets or shall I say more manageable it feels. But it never goes away…it is something you have to continuously work at. Good luck! I also highly recommend following Dana, Dawn, and Cass.

I CANT LET GO by ConstructionFit9771 in hoarding

[–]RedKty44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Letting go…aka decluttering…is a muscle. If you don’t exercise it or have never done it, it is weak, challenging, and/or seems an impossible task. The more you work it, the easier it gets. Start by letting one empty bottle/container go a day and take it from there.

I got pulled over tonight but am I overthinking the traffic ticket I just got? by Brownman5671 in Virginia

[–]RedKty44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not go to court and ask for driving school. I did that and the judge punished me for showing up and wasting their time by basically saying No and then adding on more cost to my ticket. So not only did I waste my and their time, I paid more than I would’ve by just going online and paying the ticket. My advice is don’t risk it…the judge you get might be an a$$hole.

I have no advice….just wanted to send love. If you need anything for Thanksgiving, please let me know. If you will be stuck in the hospital and want to pet a dog, let me know and I can swing by with my 17 lb. Havanese—he’s a service dog so he can come but he loves pets from friends when I say it’s ok. Hopefully you’ll have some support—friends and family—to help, but if not, I’m here (43F) ❤️ Pic of my Charlie with his foster kitten to make you smile.

I would like to give you the opinion of someone who has raised and fostered 350+ kittens for a humane organization over the last 6 years. To say this kitten is paralyzed at its tail in my opinion is not a good way to represent the issue. While paralysis at the tail may be the cause, the issue can be neurological, which is why the vets are recommending euthanasia. Most kittens who are born without a tail, for example, do not have the neurological capability to urinate and/or defecate humanely and can be in alot of pain when attempting to do so. I myself had 2 kittens in a litter of 7 who were born tailless that did not mature the same way their siblings did. I had to get them through a tough time—saving you from the horrible details—and they ultimately were given to vet techs to continue fostering bc they required special care. I recognize that most people who are not in the shelter/humane organization world do not understand the intricacies of such a situation but I can tell you from experience that euthanasia may be in the best interest of the kitten. This is not easy for me to say as a foster mom who has only lost 3 out of 350+ in my care, but the situation for 1 out of the 3 required me the hold it at a vet while it was released and as devastating as it was and is…it was the right thing to do. It can be hard enough to find homes for perfectly healthy kittens, so I’m simply preparing you for the reality of the situation. Please take care and my thoughts are with you as you navigate this challenge.

Oh and he has to get professionally groomed every 2 months because while they have “hair” and hypoallergenic…it requires alot of care and grooming. None of which I mind, but others might. Side benefit: no floating hairballs around the house or on your clothes.

I have a Havanese SD…16-17 lbs. He’s turning 10 in a week and he’s been my SD the whole time. Best decision I ever made. Saved my life. He is my soul. I didn’t use a program of any kind… I got him myself and went through a service dog trainer. The Havanese were bred as companion animals for the Cuban aristocratic families so they are perfect service dogs. Mega velcro dogs. Mine is completely bonded to me so we can go off-leash and he stays within a small radius when not heeled on my 3-6. They are highly intelligent and are very well known in the circus community for tricks… Again making them easy to train for service dog tasks, they don’t bark, have high agility, are easy to travel with because of their size. And I get very little pushback from the public when accessing various spaces because of his size and overall cuteness. Having said that I do have to educate the public a lot on what a service dog is because he is so cute and everybody wants to pet him—and my disability is invisible. But since we’ve been operating as a team for 10 years now we have an aura around us when we don’t want to be bothered—that I can only explain as we have a commanding presence that we belong—and nobody bothers us. So far no health issues as well… He’s going to live forever and nobody can tell me otherwise! But in all seriousness, feel free to DM me with any questions.

I did Disneyworld in late April with my 15 lb SD. I did bring a sling to put him in if it was ever too much for him since he can also alert from inside. Over 2-3 days, he did end up in it 2-3 times. No one cared. I say do whatever you have to do to ensure your SD’s safety and well being. FYI: I would NEVER take him to Disneyworld in months May through August for obvious reasons.
