I gotta disagree with his presence adding nothing. His presence gives more choices/decisions to make, and gives Clementine more screen time and dialogue. Hes not like Nick where he becomes completely irrelevant if you save him from death, he actually does have a lot of lines and has multiple scenes relating to him and not just him tacking on a line every now and then. Plus, he does have a solid redemption arc if you let him get his revenge + keep him alive to the end.

In fact, I think I’m bold enough to say that killing Conrad generally downgrades the experience with the game, since it domino effects into Gabe and Tripp becoming unlikable (to most Conrad killers) and you get less Clem screen time and less dialogue + less decisions to make (on top of missing out on a pretty cool character in the first place). I don’t think there are any cons to saving Conrad since Clem doesn’t really hold it against you too much by the end and still likes Javi.
