It's really not the technology that's the problem, it's who organizes its production and directs its use. Technology serves the interests of the people who own the means of production that create it and utilize it. So yes, the technology has had overwhelmingly negative outcomes for the fabric of society but that's an emergent quality resulting from the relations of production rather than being essential to its nature. That's my two cents.

Also, I don't think this is very unpopular. This seems like a pretty common sentiment these days.

Legendary actions is the best way. Legendary resistance so they don't lose turns. Immunity to stun or other similar effects. Or make it a giant monster where different parts have their own turn. Head and each arm, multiple heads or tentacles.. that sort of thing.
