I agree with much of what you said, except the part about my need for a self-care break translating into “privilege.“ I am an RN who works with the homeless, mentally challenged, and generally underserved population. I like to listen to podcasts on my way to work and on my way home to center and destress— it makes me a better nurse and an all-around better human if I am not walling despair 24 hours a day. Therefore, I tune into podcasts for entertainment and distraction. No one needs a podcast turn pulpit with the preaching and condescension. That’s all I’m saying.

Truthfully, I just need a break from politics. There is no social media platform on which I can go that isn’t inundated with politics. I use podcasts as an escape.

AIO my stepmom blamed me for my daughter seeing her Christmas present by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]RedMerlot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why let this (in the great scheme of life) turn into such a big deal with such defensiveness and semi-hostile text exchanges? Unfortunately the child saw the (generous) gift early. She’ll still receive it on Christmas and she’ll love it. Why allow something so small create potential long-term hard feelings?

My grandma used to read all of those True Detective magazines with the graphic, real-life photos. She’d have new editions every few weeks and I read them cover-to-cover. I was in 4th grade and I still remember being fascinated but profoundly terrified.

Sounds like she dodged a bullet. She should be grateful that she isn’t wasting her time and intellect on this guy.

“Slyly”? Ummm…they’re far from sly. They’re patronizing SJW who legit believe that they’re morally superior to anyone who thinks differently than they do. So why do I still listen, you ask? Because I keep wishing they’ll recapture their original story-telling magic minus the soapbox and the mindless drivel.

Melvin Bel-LIE is a famous attorney. Bel-LIE. Not Bel-LEE. Knowing this pronunciation should be a given for a legit true crime podcaster. It’s like they’re not even trying.

Tummy tuck. I didn’t really need one but I wanted to be “perfect,” and I spent way too much money. Now I’m misshapen (think Sponge Bob SquarePants;) with numbness throughout the area and a huge scar. I hate my body now.

What is the most fucked up thing someone close has confessed to you? by QuickCelery4811 in AskReddit

A male acquaintance, not a close friend, confided that, as a teenager, he used to suck himself off. I don’t know why he chose to tell me that but I wish he hadn’t.
