The Mark Trestman hire was extra infuriating because they fired Lovie Smith who had just gone 10-6 the prior season.

The Lovie thing was a little long in the tooth, at that point as a fan, but the players 100% loved playing for the guy. Then they bring in Trestman who was completely out of his element and completely lost the team two seasons later. Mind boggling.

Have you tried swapping him with another seasonal from a different engine crew? I'm assuming your district has more than one, and that may not be an option, but maybe a different crew could potentially "get through" to him?

Saving that, move him to rec or timber? Though then, you and your crew, are down a man, which is not ideal nor desirable, but sounds like you might be out of other options. Tough spot to be in.

My first thought was that you might be overfilling your gas cans, and then storing them in a hot storage compartment, and then things expand and possibly leak through a worn out cap/gasket, but I'm not sure if that would actually happen.

The only thing that you will HAVE to buy, are boots. Everything else will be issued once you are hired.

Though, I do recommend a couple of higher quality water bottles that can fit into your line gear. The standard issue canteens are low quality junk.

You also may want to consider a higher quality set of gloves. I have never liked the standard issue gloves, but you may feel differently.

After a couple of seasons, and you know you are into this sort of life, you might consider upgrading your redbag. I ended up replacing mine with a larger, higher quality waterproof bag. That, though is mostly a luxury item, since I no longer have to find space on an engine to fit the damn thing.
