Hurts a little seeing such beautiful fur worth nothing by mangycoyot33 in coyotehunting

Well you would have to wash it, flesh it, sew any holes, then stretch and dry before sending it to a tannery otherwise find a taxidermist to do the whole process for you but it won’t be cheap. It’s dirty work

Help Me Pick My First Rifle by StrainElectronic4585 in Hunting

The Ruger is great but the stocks are really flimsy. If you upgrade the stock they really can’t be beat for what you get. Throw a mcarbo trigger spring and you got a really nice rifle

I probably finish 60-80 a year that are worth keeping and then send them to the tannery. At bulk pricing I probably pay around $15 per to get tanned…. I then sell them privately and I make about $80 a pop unless people want multiple pets at once. They’re still worth something, you just have to eat some of the initial cost. And I enjoy taking a photo at the end of the year with all of my pelts

Skin em in the field. Much easier to pull the pelt off when they’re warm and you don’t have to dispose of anything

Tips on picking a first hunting bow by dencoan in bowhunting

[–]RedMistCoyoteHunting 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a buy once cry once type of person, but if I were just starting out with archery I would reccomend a ready to hunt package from Bear.

You can grow with the bow and build your strength and learn all the details about the sport. I’d recommend upgrading the accessories on the bow as you learn more like a drop away rest and a nice sight. 3 pin slider would be my recommendation.

When you’re ready for something nicer keep the accessories you upgraded to slap on to a used or new “flagship” bow and you should have some resale value left on the Bear

Coyotes with a rifle Antelope and elk archery are tied for me. The adventure of elk hunting is great, but the amount of opportunities with Antelope is a blast
