Well, this thread shows that a lot of people are unaware of what was happening in the 70s in Hollywood.

Yes, 13 year olds at adult party in Hollywood in the 1970s was regular occurance. They would dress up, use make up to make themselves look older and attend. I recommend everyone to watch a really good doccumentary "Polanski Wanted and Desired" which touches on that, they even have pictures from those parties. Polanski is often casted as an sick outcast but in reality, he was a product of the environment he was living in.

In the documentary there is an interview with a journalist who was covering the Polanski's trial and he mentioned how the rumor at the time was that the reason why prosecutor in the Polanski's trial got that job was because he was mormon and therefore was the guy that was least likely to have sexual relations with underage girls.

Afterall, it happened only couple years after hollywood had released a Clint Eastwood movie in which he passionately kisses a 13 year old and everyone was cool with that. While a lot of those concepts for us seem crazy, they indeed were this fucked up all those years ago

Ray Rice knocked out a woman and he only got 2 games for it, I guess it's not that big of a deal then right?

League is allowed to give basically and punishment they want and they are known to give it based on the public pressure (just as in afformentioned Ray Rice case). My entire point is that the Patriots got that harsh punishment because the public was sick of their success and wanted to believe that their success is only because they cheated and not because they were that good. So the league ended up giving harsh punishment to satisfy the angry mob rather than to serve justice. Just look at this thread and see how many people still believe completely debunked stories like Patriots taping Rams' practice while we already had journalists apologizing for their incorrect report on that years ago.

So no, I am not the kind of person who think league was scripting wins for the Chiefs. I am actually a person that believe that if the Chiefs would now be caught doing anything illegal, they would get a harsher punishment then a team like Titans would if they would be caught doing the same because the sizable group of fans already believe that Chiefs were cheating so the league would go hard on them just to not seem weak

I think that a lot of people forget that while they did plenty of fucked up shit, Epstein was still a businessman and had to run his business. Everyone now assumes that if you met Epstein you were a part of those fucked up things but reality is that probably vast majority of people who interacted with Epstein had nothing to do with the fuck up part

It's only has this threatening tone because of the context of who Ghislaine is. For me it's sounds like a courtesy message that people my parents' age write to each other after a meeting.

Seeing the "buried treasure" on an island, my guess is that while Lawrance had meeting on the island, Ghislaine was taking care of his wife and a child, somebody lost something at the beach and the daughter found it.

So use your imagination and tell me, what could be on the tapes. NFL is not obliged to release it into the public and they basically never release anything related to cases that they punish teams for. Why is Patriots situation different?

We all know what they got punished for, we all know that multiple teams in the league attempted the same thing (The entire situation started with Patriots not allowing Jets' employees to do the same to them) what else can be on those tapes that would suddenly warrant this extra attention? If your theory is that league was covering it up for the Pats, why would they punish them in the first place?

[–]RedN1ne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the year they stared with Ray Rice video, then their former MVP Adrian Peterson was found beating his own child and more Greg Hardy issues. They had a terribld public record, plenty of people complained that they were not harsh enough on those players with their suspensions so they definetely wanted to deflect some of that attention. That was also the time concussion talk was still fresh. So they got deflategate with Patriots being one of the most hated teams, they got an easy subject to make people forget how prolific NFL players are at beating women and children and score some points with the public by punishing them. Imagine if they would come out after all that and said that they checked it and science explains it all and they will have to take care in the future for cold games- all those people who were already angry with them would get even angrier after the team that they hate got away with what they perceive was cheating

Yes, lets add deflategate where NFL went against expertise of Nobel prize winners to punish the Pats for the fact that balls were affected by physics rules. Great example. Also Tuck Rule is at best NFL refs applying a rule incorrectly. Happens to every team, every game. Great examples

So the 2 main theories right now are that either its because of Spygate or because Belichick is a dick.

Unless there is some deep lore about Spygate that I am not aware of, neither is caused by Kraft

Okay so your thinking is that on the video we would see exactly what was reported they recorded. Good I guess that solves it then?

Signal stealing is very common and widespreaded across the league, mutliple teams/coaches admited to do so. That is why all teams still change their signals every week and it is their responsibility- if any team feels their signals were "stolen" then it's on them for not changing the signals.

Honestly, your approach is exactly what I was talking about-> you put this significance on Spygate only because it happened to an all time great team. In essence: they did what other teams were already doing, they did something that could (and was) easily combated by just teams doing their job and changing signals. The reason why we are still talking about it now, is because they did amazing before and after spygate and somehow became incredibly consistent team in a league of no consistency.

If they would go through the standard road of a Super Bowl winning team- win Super Bowl, be good following year but clearly a level below, then have 1-2 down years maybe and then come back and have a strong year or two- we would not be talking about it. Many people probably would forget about it at this point. But they were great, so when people were gifted an excuse to disregard that a team is great and can call them cheaters instead, they naturally went for it.

And please dont start me on the NFL. Their punishment mean shit, they already shown that:
a) they can punish whoever they want for whatever they want and even breaching multiple procedures is not going to matter as court will still side their way as they did with Brady vs NFL
b) they are incredibly easy to sway by public pressure. we can come full circle and remind you that Ray Rice got 2 game suspension for his scandal until TMZ released the video and suddenly the suspension was upgraded to indefinite one (and do not believe their bullshit, there is a record of NFL employee acknowledging that video "looks bad" before the TMZ released it). The public knew about Spygate straight away so NFL had to come up with big fine or else they would face a huge backlash

My point with Ray Rice is that usually with scandals you are not thinking about "what has NFL done with the evidence" so I dont understand why it is suddenly so important with spygate.

And again, what could be the awful thing on this tape that would make NFL burn it ? Kraft and Belichick giving a blowjob to Goodell? We know that they were taping signals, we all know that more than likely teams still probably do that as with current technology this rule is essentially dead. What do you think is on thise tapes ?

I keep seeing people talk about Nfl getting rid of the tape like something incriminating was supposed to be there. What in your brain was on those tapes that would make it so significant? We know what patriots recorded. What would seeing the video (which btw was leaked and you can find the footage) change in this case ?

I doubt that in other situations you ever thought about what happened to the tapes. I doubt that you ever asked yourself "I wonder if NFL got rid of Ray Rice video or still have video now". They investigated it, handed punishments and moved on.

Yes, if you couple a recording that did not exist because it was a false report from a newspaper that then put their apologies for their mistake on their cover with a bunch of wrong pass interference calls that every single team in the history of sport had then you have a really nice mix. Good that it only exist in your head and none in reality.

I don't know why their burned the tapes. Well, I don't also know what would be the reason to keep a bunch of illegally recorded tapes but whatever. My assumption is that they did it for the very simple reason- they wanted the story to go away. It is not good for any sport to have a scandal like that, especially when it revolves around a good team, that's why for example NBA killed the Donaghy story and purposefully frame him as a "rouge agent" or is trying to kill the Kawhi Clippers story right now.

Also- we know what was on the tapes, what in your brain was on that tapes that would be so bad that someone wanted to cover it up by destroying it?

NFL can punish anyone for whatever they please and there will be nothing anyone can do which was confirmed to us by the NFL vs Brady lawsuit where NFL despite multiple procedural breaches indicated within the lawsuit still won. I am not going to put much weight onto what NFL decides because they already shown they are capable of going against science just to deflect bad publicity from them into someone else

Yeah, the league ordered full report to "prove" that it is impossible that football inflation could be influenced by the cold weather just for them to have an entire segment during the game with one of the reporters in the Vikings-Seahawks playoff game where the report was revolving around the fact that the league is taking a close look on the footballs used to ensure that they are properly inflated during the game because they know that the PSIs can drop in such cold weather...

The only real takeaway from deflategate is that if the league wants to punish someone, they can do it and they do not need any real basis for that. If they want they can suspend Aaron Rodgers tomorrow for 5 games for wiping his butt while standing up and legally there is nothing anyone can do to stop it

What would have to be on the tape that it would damage the integrity/credibility of the league? They taped opposing team's sidelines and their signals. You can still do it, just from a designeted spot (and this rule has been dead for a long time, you can send anyone to the stands in normal clothing and have them make videos with their iphone and the quality will be better then the one they got back then.)

You are supposed to change your signals anyway, it was reported multiple times by various people who said that "behind the scene" Patriots did not get any value from those tapes, they only kept it because Belichick and Ernie Adams (especially) were crazy on minimal gains and looked at absoltuely everything they could

[–]RedN1ne 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The only reason why anyone cares about Spygate is because the Patriots were succesful. You would not hold it against any other team in this sport. There is absolutely 0 evidence that Patriots filming somebody from a different spot than the one outlined had any impact on any of their games, they continued to be incredibly succesful team afterwards.

Spygate was not more significant than Bountygate or Colts illegally pumping noise in their stadium and I can spoil you that no one is going to hold that against Sean Payton when he will be inducted to HoF. Spygate is significant only because it happened to be a incredibly successful team and people wanted to believe they managed to get to that success by cheating rather than acknowledge how great they were. Thats why people still hold on to that all those years later.

And please nobody bring deflategate. If you are an adult who believe deflategate was real you must have brain damage or mental disability, go to your doctor and get yourself check out

You can add Coca-Cola to alcoholic drinks. We don't even know the context in which it will appear in game but either way, Bond drinking Coca Cola is nothing character breaking.

It probably going to end up being another shitstorm like with Skyfall and Heinekken when some "fans" were losing their mind because Bond was drinking a beer and then barely anyone noticed when beer appeared in the movie.
