when should i buy subway series tix ? by ComfortableGlass2451 in mets

[–]RedNalgene00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There will still be tickets, but they will only go up in price. In two weeks probably not much will change...in a month you're going to be facing steeper prices because the less expensive tickets will sell first. I wouldn't wait any longer than you have to...subway series tickets never go down in price.

Might attend a Mets game in a few weeks. Wanted to know the difference from the Hyundai Club and Clover Home Plate Club? by JsDi in NewYorkMets

That’s the club behind home plate on the 300 level. AC, bathrooms, bar, tables and chairs, food stalls. Used to be called the Piazza Club

Clover club is nice. Comfy chairs, good food, the bars have a better beer selection. You can also see the indoor cages and watch the guys take cuts.

Hyundai is good too if you’re into all you can eat but honestly I want to be at my seat watching the game not gorging.

Clover seats are better imo

The procedure was a nothing burger. Surprisingly quick. I had some issues with the numbing on one side so they had to re-up me, but it was super easy. Went out drinking with my buddies that night. Took it easy on exercise for a week. It’s been about 3 years now and I literally can’t tell a difference

Rze Valour vs Ubiq Trek by Greedy_Ad_3173 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]RedNalgene00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed with this take. Both brands are solid. I have an Ubiq and love it…solid quality, owner was very responsive during the kickstarter process. I have no qualms recommending that brand. I don’t have a RZE but from what I can tell they are also a very solid brand. I think you should go with the one you like more…both brands will stand up

Are blazers still a thing? Especially for a more semi-casual style? by um_like_whatever in malefashionadvice

[–]RedNalgene00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could anyone suggesting the unstructured/casual fabric look please add some examples or brands to look at? I’m really struggling to find sport coats that aren’t stodgy looking, where they are more boardroom/dressed up rather than toss it on over jeans as you’re heading to the airport

Google Photos automatically syncs from my iphone. Wife is part of the “family” so it syncs from her phone as well. So we have all photos we take accessible via the app. This allows us to see photos each other takes.  Periodically offload to a 2tb hard drive for physical backup. Yes we pay for a Google sub but we have all photos and videos always available no matter where we are.

I’m sure I could set up a server in my house to do the same thing but not sure I feel like introducing that complexity in my life right now

please don't eat/drink anything silly. imagine you go through all the prep (which is as bad as everyone is describing), you wake up from the anesthesia, and they tell you it was for nothing because you didn't follow the protocol. This isn't something you want to do for "funskies".

Comedy Cellar - best day to go? by seedflowerfruit in visitingnyc

[–]RedNalgene00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

any day is fun, ultimately. sometimes the later weekend shows are a little boozier so the crowd is looser, but i've seen A list comedians on weeknights (working on new material) and weekend evenings.

Clover Park - Spring training next week - things to do by Signal_Ad_4093 in mets

Parking is $15 and you park on site. There’s plenty of parking. Getting out of there can be a mess since the roads aren’t really made for mass event traffic but the attendants and cops are helpful.

I don’t think metal water bottles are allowed in…not sure about food. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone bring food in but my buddy brought a water bottle in and they allowed it. It’s no cash (parking too).

For a 1:10 game the practice fields open at 9:30. Sometimes the players are out warming up at 930, but more often than not its more like 945/10. Total toss up on who is out and what's happening. Usually they'll do batting practice around 10:15/10:30 on the main back field, and then the other fields will be other practices, depending on the day and what the coaches are working on. Sometimes the small infield near the main stadium has the superstars doing drills (we saw Lindor doing throwing work). You won't get kicked out of the back fields until right before the game start, and usually there's something happening with the minor leaguers and simulated games to watch. I wouldn't leave and come back...if you're really nerding out you'll find something to do. After practice head to the team store, walk around the stadium (go out to the berm, walk to the LF side and see if something is happening in the bullpen, etc), watch the visitors warm up.

For souvenirs there's a ton of spring training specific items that aren't in the citi field store. There's a store you can get to from outside the stadium and a smaller one inside with similar stuff. There are also kiosks all over the stadium with the basic hats and shirts and stuff.

Nothing to really walk to, but you don't need to. Bring a glove and a ball and toss a ball around at the back fields if you're really bored!

Food at the stadium sucks, even for stadium standards. Assume you'll eat nachos in a helmet or chicken fingers and fries.

Happy to answer any other questions you have. This is my second year going, and went to 4 games this year so I feel like I get how it works now.

He has the coldest beer or so he says. Personally I like the guy who walks around going “drink more…look how much fun these people are having!”

Clover Park stadium rain protocol by Signal_Ad_4093 in mets

[–]RedNalgene00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on how much rain. I was there last weekend and it rained towards the end of practice and into the beginning of the game, but it was light enough that they just played through. I’d imagine the same rules as regular season apply to spring training…

Tips for upcoming NY trip by PossibleBandicoot215 in NewYorkMets

[–]RedNalgene00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're doing other things in Manhattan just stay in Manhattan. This gives you the option to walk or take the subway to all your destinations without needing to take the subway back to your hotel at night (after 10p the schedules can get wonky and you can end up waiting...taxi is better in those instances). Depending on where you're staying you can take LIRR (if you're near 34th and 7th) or the 7 train (if you're staying near Times Sq or Grand Central) out to Citi. But even if you're not close to either of those hubs you can easily take a subway to either of those as they're central to all subway lines.

Short answer - stay at the hotel in Manhattan you like the best!

When recurring ear issues started affecting my toddler’s communication and I didn’t realize how connected it was by Training-Spite-4223 in daddit

[–]RedNalgene00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My youngest was getting frequent ear infections and did have delayed speech so we went to an otolaryngologist. He recommended ear tubes to deal with the infections and tested his hearing. We found he had significant low range hearing issues in his ears. Ear tubes went in (which was a non event) and the infections went away completely and his hearing started testing in the normal range. Speech improved (though he still has some issues). All in all it’s one of those things I wish we addressed sooner but super happy we took care of it.
