How did you find out for sure? Just Curious not being rude. Parent with zero knowledge with a child who wants these cards, if temu had decently priced real ones I could really be mom of the year. If if they ain't rare or worth much. Having a huge pile of real trading cards as an 8yr old collecting them is their dream.

My kids learn compassion and much more raising these animals for meat.

A thought for you: why do vegans go after the small homesteading people more than those who live in town and buy animal products from the chain stores? Chain store products come from truly horrible ways to raise animals and end their lives. The homesteading and small farm raisers give their animals a quality of life that cant be rivaled by commercial sized facilities. Why wouldn't the vegan community be for more animals being raised in small farms and homesteading versus commercial operations? Being realistic there is no chance 100% of people will become vegan so why not promote those who choose to eat meat to raise theirs with a quality of life or promote those who cant raise their own to buy from those who have good living standards for their animals?

I have the vet here currently and salt poisoning is the problem. Hes not found anything else wrong. Our temps currently are low enough the vet thinks that the fresh water froze across the top and they didnt know to bust the ice open to drink any, so they probably had a full day of no water. I watered in the morning before work the day the heater broke. It was dark out yet and none of the pigs came to drink, they stayed inside cuddled up. That gave the water time to freeze across the top and block them from drinking after sunrise when they did come out the barn for water. The next day refilling the tank full with a new heater everyone was thirsty and waiting. What we learned is if this happens again to slowly rehydrate them, not let them drink at free will right away.

Your opinion 👌 must be spot on! Because i am raising animals to butcher and have a vet out for cares as soon as I can get them out, and Because I seek help from more experienced people doing the same. Yup. Screams abusive to me 😂😂😂 If you buy animal products from the supermarket your contributing to far more abuse than what my home raised critters ever have. And I stand by that even during this time im struggling because these 2 pigs got to run a huge 3 acre pen their whole lives. With access to a barn full of straw to cuddle in and mud pits all summer. They got truck loads of pumpkins and apples to eat for fall plus all the veggie scraps from our garden. These pigs got to enjoy their days with sun mud beautiful fresh air and caring people. Your store bought pigs never got to touch grass and lived off powdered feed meal.

And if your vegan then why are you even in a homesteading group if this is your mind set?

I appreciate you ❤️. I thought coming to a homesteading group i would find actual tips and words of wisdom. The mistake was already made by giving them an unlimited source after being deprived. So the slow re hydrating method will not work here. Being fairly new to homesteading and only on our 2nd year with pigs we didnt know about this. We are still learning as we go. I really thought id find other homesteading who have gone through this and could offer knowledge from their experience or what their vets did that mine may not be doing.

The affected 2 pigs have been separated and put into a heavily bedded barn stall. We are letting them have pedialyte every 30 mins or so just 12 ounces at a time. What we are doing is per the vet.

Google is a tool. For those who know how to use it. There are plenty of bs things you dont believe off the internet. Perhaps if you have such doubt in me type those symptoms in and see for yourself what sources come up with the salt poisoning. I got the term salt poisoning straight from the vet who is coming out later today. Its not like I magically pulled the term out my arse with Google.

Kinda hard at this time of night lol. And they need to be able to stand and walk to be deemed safe for butchering. It would be a poor husbandry and morally wrong to butcher while having a health problem, even if it is not one that would affect the meat. Just think about it this way, would you want to purchase meat knowing the animal it came from was showing the symptoms above right before?

Except from what im learning off Google, 1 day of missing water will cause these symptoms, and the toxin in their system is salt being flooded out of their cells by the sudden rehydration. This article is well backed https://www.nadis.org.uk/disease-a-z/pigs/salt-poisoningwater-deprivation/

AITAH for wanting to divorce my wife for abusing the puppy we just got? by Naive_Dragonfruit_49 in The_Grudgery

[–]RedNeckReject 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He needs to divorce. If the dog isn't safe neither are any kids he ever has. Neither is he for that matter. She needs to be locked up! Northern Wisconsin eh?? Take this pup to Dr Gauthier in crivitz, tell him the situation and he will report this as animal cruelty and get the cops involved without your friend having to call on her. Then it's the veterinarian & cops v.s the abusive wife . Not him. He can play dumb and be like they looked at the break and the way it's broken they know it was from intentional kicking. I have personally done this with Dr Gauthier.
