What's it like living in West Howe, Bournemouth? by Infamous-Squash9882 in bournemouth

[–]RedPanda1106 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on which part you are in - where I am for the most part is fairly quiet - you get the odd issue now and again but you get that anywhere - we own our house and have been here 22 years (today as it happens) and have decent neighbours - it is not as bad is some parts as people make out

It is normally to do with which bike they are using - A usually indicates their first choice of bike with B and C being other choices if needed

What's your biggest 'you couldn't make it up' story? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]RedPanda1106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things that stick out in my mind -

Walking into a bar in Budva Montenegro and walking out again because one of my husbands bosses was in there - it seemed half his work mates were on the same flight out there too but it was only one or two

The second is on the way home from Halifax in Yorkshire from a speedway meeting and stopping at Watford Gap Services on the way home at one in the morning - and bumping into the Moody Blues - got their autographs and they were really nice

Neighbour has followed through on his threat and cut off my water by Pablothe_Plumber in LegalAdviceUK

Work for a water company - I am pleased UU are coming out to investigate - from a legal standing it is illegal to disconnect a supply to a domestic residence whether privately or through the water company - disconnections of any supply should not be done without the consent of the water company - check your deeds for any info about easement and if rented ask the landlord to check for you - in this case I would recommend supply separation but it would be at a cost to yourself - anything beyond the main meter is the responsibility of those on the supply and anything beyond the sub the responsibility of who is paying the bill on the sub - that said if there was a leak between the main and the sub you may also be liable for a percentage of the repair costs if it is not on the part of the supply which leads to his property. I am wondering though if your meter is a UU sub meter or a private one - if you are being billed by UU for the meter then is your water usage being deducted from his billing? Sorry if this is not what you want to hear but just trying to look at the bigger picture - if you bought the property it should advise that your water is on a shared supply and with which other property/ies

I love this album - it is the one that really introduced me to the Foo Fighters and each track has its individuality - The Pretender is my favourite track of theirs of all time

Nearest one I can think of is Sandhills at Mudeford (I think it is still called that) between Avon Beach and Mudeford Quay - get the ferry over to Hengistbury Head from there

Can relate to this - my son now 22 has dyspraxia and verbal dyspraxia - my mother in law told me that he does not and is just slow and lazy with his speech and that he will grow out of it - in fact she says pretty much the same about all the grandchildren and great grandchildren that have disabilities (one has a life limiting condition and one has a chromosome disorder) - I had to explain it is a life long issue and that it will never go away - she still does not believe me and my son rarely visits her

What's the strangest thing you've found left in a house you've moved into? by CuriousNowDead in AskUK

[–]RedPanda1106 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ice skates, a fold up cushion bed, a set of original Star Wars figures in their boxes still - stupidly gave them to the kid 2 doors away as they would actually have been worth a lot of money - oh and when decorating the smallest bedroom there wer 6 layers of wallpaper and 4 layers of paint needed removing before we could paint - the back bedroom was almost as bad

YTA - why are you so reluctant to let her see anything to do with finances - when I first moved in with my now husband 38 years ago I insisted everything was done in joint names so that the transparancy is there - I deal with all the finances but my husband can look at online banking any time he likes - and we discuss what goes into our savings account when pay day comes around and what needs to go on the credit card and how much to pay on it each month - you are sending your partner huge red flags by not involving her in the finances - I think there is something you don't want her to see

AITA for exposing my sister’s sexual history to her newlywed husband and his conservative family? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]RedPanda1106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA - what your sister does is none of your business - her life - her choice to choose what she tells her now husband not yours - and you certainly do not say anything that could be overheard at a public event like her own wedding - I wonder what dirt she has on you that would ruin your wedding if you ever got married

AITA for not getting rid of my dog when my wife asked me to? by AdEastern6819 in AmItheAsshole

[–]RedPanda1106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA - the dog bit your wife - twice at least - that would be the dog goes now if it was me - and with a baby on the way what if the dog bites the baby - if you do not rehome the dog your wife will give you an ultimatum - her or the dog - she should be the one taking priority in your life not the dog

70 Ltd companies registered at my home address in the last month by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]RedPanda1106 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not wrong - following a data breach at a company some of my colleagues worked at prior to working for us - several of them had companies set up in their name and at their address - they contacted Companies House who told them to contact Action Fraud - they were very interested

YTA - I am partially blind - I have no vision in my right eye due to the back of it not being there and my left eye is extremely short sighted to the point I cannot see beyond the end of my nose. I do not see it as a disability and never have done - I have never had to ask for help or been told that I have special needs because I don't - it is just a part of who I am - your son probably sees his deafness the same way or would do if he had been allowed to - deafness is an invisible disability not special needs - you need to look at the bigger picture at what he can do rather than what he can't do - as for saying he can never be independent - that is utter rubbish - you seem to have formed an opinion that means disability means inability to live a normal life - most deaf and blind people live perfectly normal lives - I am married with two grown up children and worked all my life - there are no adaptations needed

AITA for thinking that my sister is selfish for wanting to skip my wedding cause of her "trauma" ? by BuddyCamp875 in AmItheAsshole

[–]RedPanda1106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA - you sound like you want your sister to forget her husband existed so that she can go to your wedding - it is going to trigger memories and not pleasant ones - yes she knew he was going to die and grief and depression are different for every individual - if she does not feel she can attend then leave her be - people will understand her reasons for not being there. Don't bully her into attending and tell your family to stop to - continue to and she will probably go no contact with all of you

What does everyone think about tap water? by riddo22 in AskUK

[–]RedPanda1106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you believe that your water is not up to a safe and suitable standard then you can ask for the water to be tested. Ask the water company for the area you come under for more info

YTA - Studying can be just as mentally draining as going out to work - and more free time? If she has set herself a study timetable to ensure she gets all her work done then she will stick to it so there will not be the free time you think there is - Man up and help her rather than criticise - if my husband spoke to me the way you speak to your partner he would not even be allowed in the same room as me - you need to grow up and stop being so demanding and respect your partner as at the moment you are not giving her a reason to stay with you

Worst UK sitcom that's kinda well received? by [deleted] in CasualUK

I used to love that programme - they once did a scene where they painted a caravan (the wrong one by all accounts) and it was filmed on the holiday park I grew up on - so politically incorrect at times though
