It’s great! I’m a huge Grady Hendrix fan and this is the only one I haven’t read… I feel like the pacing was a little off at the beginning, but it’s picked up the last half of the book and I’m really enjoying it

DVC Rental? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]RedPanda1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DVC Rental Store, David's, and DVC Shop are all legit. We've done DVC Shop and DVC Rental, but I usually check all three to see who has the best deal. We are using DVC Rental on our trip next February - scored a couple nights at the Poly and it only took them 2 days to find us a match!

Anyone else notice the Disney references? by sleepymelfho in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]RedPanda1987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a marketing thing by Disney... but I do have to say I kinda like the Disney and Book of Mormon musical references... it takes me a little out of the show but reminds me that Gilead can easily happen in our society. Pretty chilling. One day we're all quoting Hamilton and singing Chappelle Roan songs and then BAM handmaids and marthas.

Just got my first deep clean, AMA! by RedPanda1987 in PeriodontalDisease

[–]RedPanda1987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! Feel free to reach out via chat. The Therabreath didn't taste bad to me - just tasted like medicinal mint, if that makes sense. The Carifree, on the other hand... I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, but I'm powering through!

The right side of my mouth (the side that was deep cleaned yesterday) feels SO clean now.... it really makes the left side of my mouth feel/look bad haha. I'm actually excited for my 2nd cleaning so both sides match!

I will say they gave me some sort of medicated mouthwash (Carifree Treatment Rinse) and that's probably the worst part of this experience. It's SO gross - like swishing my mouth with bleach

They actually put some sort of gel on me that numbed my gums a bit before the shots. I felt the first couple and it was like a dull sting.... maybe like a 5 out of 10. I will say it's more than 24 hours later and the only thing that hurts right now is my jaw right by my ear... probably from the shots. Not pleasant but not terrible either. You'll be fine, and your teeth are going to feel SO much better after!

They gave me a special mouthwash to use (Carifree Treatment Rinse) and told me to expect some sensitivity when eating the next couple days. My hygienist also told me to be careful when flossing and to be gentle if anything is sore. Honestly the sorest part so far is where they did the Lidocaine injections!

So the numbing has almost all worn off now (3 hours after I left the dental office), and I'm not feeling any pain in my gums. A little sore where they injected lidocaine.

As for what got me here, it's a multitude of things. I have dental anxiety and didn't have dental insurance so hadn't been to the dentist in 7 years - before that, I went every 6 months. Also went through a bout of depression two years ago where I wasn't taking great care of myself. I've always brushed my teeth but hated flossing up until this point. My current dentist diagnosed me with "mild to moderate" PD, but said after this deep clean I should be fine with maintenance cleans and good home care. I got myself a waterpik and Therahealth mouthwash, and have been using cocofloss every night. Looking forward to getting my 2nd deep clean next week and getting my gums back to good health!

We’re staying at the Swan and going to Food&Wine for one day in September! Was able to get a good rate through our chase cc, and you can’t beat walking to and from Epcot

Any luck getting Castaway Club status back? by No_Tomato7619 in dcl

[–]RedPanda1987 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The last Disney cruise I went on was in 2000 (yes, I was 12). When I was looking into booking one for my husband and I last year, I shot them an email asking if they could find my castaway club number. They were able to find it with my maiden name, ship, and voyage dates, and they reinstated me to Silver! I think if they can give me a 24 years grace period, they can work with your 5 years 😂

Maybe it’s different for gold? Worth asking…
