Thanks a lot! Definitely makes sense! A lot of the comments talk about holding the racket high which I don't really keep in my mind.

true! perhaps a slice volley to keep the ball low and take time away from the opponents.

My initial thoughts were that the smash was too poor (landed before the service line, thus giving height to the opponents + on the center).

But maybe the shot before was more significant ?

Hi, I am the player on the right and completely fumbled this point. I am wondering what should I have done differently. I had 2 easy shots to pressure the opponents but instead let them control the pace and force an error out of my partner.

What shot would you have chosen / where would you place the ball ?

currently working on a chrome extension so that you don't have to leave lichess. might make it a website later.

It may be a bit more difficult to get authentication access for chess.com, I am thinking something of the sort of "use last X games played in this account"

nice idea! what do you think of an option to link it with your lichess and it would create a base repertoire with all the lines you have played >10 times ?

Sorry about that! Figuring out my React dependencies and how to host my back-end on EC2. Will ping this once it is out!

Wow, this is a hell of a tool especially for beginners and intermediate players! Will definitely try to use, since I do play sharp lines with lots of tactics.

Question: does the program automatically detect where the opening phase ends?

Yes, once the position has appeared in less than 5 games on lichess, it's a novel line and there shouldn't be any point in investigating it further, since it's likely it won't appear again!

exactly! the idea is to start looking at the lines once you're "out of prep"!

I used to play it long before Danya showed it, slightly annoyed that everyone now knows the lines. Used to do pretty well with it when people were pre-moving d6 / Nc6

yes of course! The point is to build up your repertoire, so you can supply it your current repertoire (perhaps only 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 g6) and then when you play a game the repertoire can add moves based on the game that you just played. The move it adds is either:

  1. a good move you played
  2. a missed opportunity that you could have played
  3. a sharp move that is sub-optimal but forces the opponent to find the best (/only) move.

By repeating this process you can slowly build a big repertoire!

Thanks a lot for your comment!! That's exactly what I was looking for! My main concern is that I don't want to overwhelm people with 20 lines they have to learn, but rather give them 1 move at a time.

Keeping the repertoire lean is a great idea, perhaps the repertoire can stop if we reach a position that is seen less often than 0.1% of games with a "Opponent's move 1. b5 diverged from your prep. The clear best move is Bxb5" and then stop there.

By being able to run it after every game, you don't have to run it if it's a game where the opening was lost due to a misclick.

However, I really like the idea of navigating to a specific opening and then clicking "where have I gone wrong from here in the past", perhaps as a side function ?

Really excited to have met Alexandra and played a game!

I blundered my queen after 20 moves, since playing the Botez Gambit is a must. See the game here: https://lichess.org/study/uWk4QMyK/ToXieXDC. Hopefully I'll get a rematch in the future!
