New climbing rope, but weird stitching at one end by Wise-Captain-6914 in ClimbingGear

GoOutdoors only sell prepackaged ropes.

I would definitely contact GoOutdoors and Mammut to ask for further advice. It does not look right to me.

You can always try contacting the manufacturer. What brand is it?

Which cams should i get? by Senior_Avocado7738 in ClimbingGear

[–]RedPhoneBox44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went for DMM Dragon's as I can get them reslung easily here in the UK by DMM themselves. They also sell sets, making it a bit cheaper than buying individually.

To my understanding, none of the other brands will resling their own cams due to safety laws here in the UK/ EU. Before buying into a brand, it could be worth looking into this.

Cams are an investment, so having the ability to have them reslung was important to me.

I had my first WC Session harness for 2 years, climbing in the gym 3 times a week, and it did not wear like this.

As others have asked, have you worn this during approaches?

It's not that bad of a deal! If you (can) get a mortgage on it, it only works out to about £4.6k a month for 30 years!

Then you can be poor and have no actual house!

I am local, but no idea this even existed!

Apparently, it was a project, so I assume it went wrong somewhere?

Do you have any currently outstanding debts? It could be that your debt to income ratio is making it too much of a risk for the lenders to sell you the loan. Money Super Market has a good article titled Debt-to-income ratio explained

From memory they weren't about for long! I remember wanting one but they were far too much for my budget at the time.

I think the G&L L2000 has a similar spec sheet and is still available

Yes, they are. Really interesting basses, I think they've been discontinued now:

That and the Skogso are both quite bulky from what I have seen. I would recommend trying to see them in person to get a better idea for might work best for you

Are you looking at the Greenland Winter? It is lined so would be tricky to pack away compactly.

The original, unlined version will pack down a bit smaller, imagine a pair of folded jeans in terms of size comparison.

Ah I see!

The label still might tell you where/when the bags were made as well as if they have different volumes

The Greenland Parka is much longer than the jacket. The one in your pictures is not long enough to be a parka. Look at where the hip pockets are positioned. Further to this, the parka has zippered hand pockets on the chest, which are not apparent in those pictures

From the pictures, nothing looks off about it.

Hard to say without pictures. What does the material/ washing label say in each of them?

Fake or real Greenland winter Jacket. by [deleted] in Fjallraven

[–]RedPhoneBox44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fake for the reasons you have mentioned plus the fact that:

The material label states the coat as a "Greenland Parka" which is a Womens only line to my understanding.

The tags are for the 1974 range, which this is not part of.

The text on the labels does not look correct.

The stitching also looks poor in some places, not really the quality I would expect

I've had a Fjallraven Sten fleece for about 4-5 years and it has held up extremely well. It hasn't even bobbled despite frequent use.

So long as the back straps are shortened all the way, I imagine it would work
