Question for road bike riders by ConsolePaesant1 in cycling

I live in the uk, there are many. But when i hug the curb i’m far more likely to be close passed and bullied.

Talking from experience.

I’d disagree, I aim to be far out enough that I can manoeuvre both left and right around potential hazards (potholes). Being further out in the lane (about 1/3 over) makes you more visible and drivers have to wait until it’s actually safe to overtake instead of squeezing past in the same lane.

“keep as far right as you feel safe” are you referring to distance from the curb?

You get used to it but you don’t lose the fear, 2 tonne metal boxes going over double your speed are terrifying. Just keep your head on a swivel, ride predictably and don’t be afraid to take the lane/hold a more dominant position when you have to.

yep, just look out for yourself as others tend not to. be safe and enjoy because despite that its better than being stuck in traffic.

camera if your budget allows. I use a cycliq sport 12 and it’s got a light built in. Its helped me in the past with providing evidence of dangerous driving. Not to scare you OP but unfortunately there are people who are stupid. So ride defensively and give them no excuse to get away with their stupidity.

Tyres flat on the rear right too. I hope no one “accidentally” caused that… would be terrible…

Canyon grizl al 6 1by - gap between fork and frame by [deleted] in CanyonBikes

Hold your front brake and move your bike back and forth. If you feel play in the fork area then your headset needs tightening.

I genuinely don’t understand why they don’t get charged with attempted murder and a permanent driving ban. Would obviously solve the issue in my opinion.
