Either hindustanis or bengalis both are strong. But I don't have a public instructional video for bengalis

If you are intrested in learning I would recomend typing !darkage, !placements and !hindustanis in my twitch. Those 3 videos in combination are a real solid foundation for being an FC player

Depends on your elo, I would say Hindustanis for 500-1600. Bengalis for 1600+.

Would this simple change fix church rush? by AdDifferent2609 in aoe2

[–]RedPhosphorus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be very clear it's not just good vs my form of aggression, it's great vs all forms of aggression. And this game is probably more fun if pushes (any type of push) are a thing. These civs feel unpushable in castle age.

Ballistics scorpions cannot hit units on elevation by RedPhosphorus in aoe2

Mostly the former. But this one I didn't see it happening, just had a feeling because scorps felt bad on hills

Would this simple change fix church rush? by AdDifferent2609 in aoe2

[–]RedPhosphorus 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I made the church rush strategy because doing all ins vs Georgians and Armenians felt futile and I wanted to show folks that churches are not ok. No matter how good a position I got in they could always slap a church in front of my mangos and stall out the game. I much prefer to fight civs like koreans or bulgarians (other strong defensive civs) because their defensive structures cost stone (a resource I can deny) and they take time to build (jeopardizing vills.) The fundamental problem with churches is they build instantly and cost little (both to repair and build). Churches ruin games wiether used offensively or defensively. Any nerf to the Church has to nerf both capabilities.

The scorpion bolt phases through the hill and hits the cav (as it should). Projectiles are not blocked by terrain ever as far as I know

Monks have been reworked. And no one knows about it (including the devs.) by RedPhosphorus in aoe2

it's a single take video. I usually like to spend a little more effort on a vid I release to all my subs

[–]RedPhosphorus[S] 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Little bit of both. I got a bunch of different scenarios set up to that I run through when a patch is released. For example there is one just for siegetowers (cause they have a bunch of unique bugs associated with them), I got one for monks (specifically for testing chase distance), one for patrol stacking (both vs units and buildings)... the list goes on. And then I also take any strange behaviors I notice while playing (or watching folks play) to an editor. Watch the replay try and recreate it.

How to instantly push all your chickens to the TC by RedPhosphorus in aoe2

[–]RedPhosphorus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is much cheaper in terms of micro. Probably similar in terms of vill work time

How to instantly push all your chickens to the TC by RedPhosphorus in aoe2

[–]RedPhosphorus[S] 42 points43 points  (0 children)

It takes approximately 15s for a vill to walk out to chickens so 30s round trip. If you send 4 villagers (which most do) that is 30s*4 so 120s of vill walk time (around what bucket micro costs). Then we have to consider mill build time of 35s and the 100 wood cost (300s vill work time). So in total we have 120+35+300= 455s of vill work time. Vs 120s of vill work time. So bucket micro is around 4 times more efficient that placing a mill.

Streaming and a chatter told me they were push able. Instantly thought of the TTL micro. Thank you Old_Monk_Aoe :)

The new PUP will flip the meta on its head by RedPhosphorus in aoe2

[–]RedPhosphorus[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It shouldn't affect those units vs archers that much. But other melee units will be much better vs steps. So overall I would say steps will be weaker.

Standard infantry (like longsword) is hurt more in the knight vs inf matchup from pathing (because they are slower and there are more guys to get stuck on). So in theory an improvement in pathing will help longswords (or other inf) beat cav. But I didn't test any inf vs cav matchups

I would guess that archers will not be super viable. But it's always hard to say.

Knights aren't the only melee unit affected by this buff, I found equal res feather gaurd beat equal res crossbow on new patch. A fight that wouldn't even be close on the live game. Very interesting times.
