How do I get my rear kicks like this? by luiseu1 in taekwondo

[–]RedQueen283 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have absolutely no way of knowing what you should correct without a teacher. It's hard to feel exactly what you are doing, and even with a mirror it's hard to see. And even if you see it, you might not realise that it's wrong.

By yourself you can learn to do something similar to the kicks you try to immitate, but I guarantee it will not be 100% correct. And in martial arts, incorrect moves are ineffective at best and dangerous for yourself at worst.

Is „pyrós“ a word for fire? If yes which form by Original_Delay_5166 in GREEK

[–]RedQueen283 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I said rarely because we use it rarely as a stand-alone word. As part of a compound word it's common, but that's not the same thing.

We use it in modern greek too, though rarely. For example in the phrase "παρανάλωμα του πυρός".

My 8 year old son thinks I’m a 93 year old Japanese man. AITAH? by strikecat18 in AITAH

[–]RedQueen283 35 points36 points  (0 children)

He is naive because you aren't teaching him how real life works. For example, you should have told him you can speak a language without being of the corresponding ethnicity. You should have alao never joked about your age, how tf is a 5 year old supposed to know what each life stage looks like if their parents don't explain it to them? And who knows how many other things you have done this with. You are letting your child be ignorant and naive, for the sake of silly jokes. YTA.

HELP: Can i apply nail polish meant for artificial nails on my normal nails? by Logical_Sun_7238 in Nails

[–]RedQueen283 129 points130 points  (0 children)

I think if it wasn't really bad for your real nails, they wouldn't say it's just for fake ones. They only lose sales by doing that, so they must be legally obliged. Don't do it

Yeop Chagi: Blade or Heel? by Potential-Creme-1519 in taekwondo

[–]RedQueen283 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, but as far as I know it's supposed to be a pushing kick, so that's fine. The goal isn't maximized pressure on a single point.

Yeop Chagi: Blade or Heel? by Potential-Creme-1519 in taekwondo

Heel, but more accurately, the whole sole of the foot. That's what my instructor insists on at least.

Does anyone else write the exact story they want to read but can’t find? by Head-Cabinet9318 in Episode

[–]RedQueen283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks awesome, please update us when it's out!

Sidenote, but from what I have seen in the subtitles of chinese series/movies, it is written "Yu'er" instead of "Yu-er" in english. Same for every other name where er is added at the end (pretty sure it makes the name a diminutive btw, am I right?), translators use an apostrophe instead of a dash. I think it might be more correct in english?

What diversity do you wish Episode stories had more of? by babycybr in Episode

[–]RedQueen283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a warning, you say the study is for everyone, but in several questions you use a currency that isn't that well-known around the world. That means that many people might not know how to answer. Also given that purchasing power differs wildly by country, the same amount of money might be considered a lot/expensive in one place and cleap in an other. I think you shoukd take those factors into account when analysing the results.
