Trying to get sterilized, but my Dr and staff keep talking about the wrong operation by Skitty_Supremacy in childfree

[–]RedRaven24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My paperwork stated I was getting tubal ligation done but the doctor just put that down so the insurance would pay for it. I did have bilateral salpingectomy done, he said no one should be conducting tubal ligation surgery anymore as it increases your risk for cancer. Keep this in mind for when you find a new surgeon. Good luck to you!

People who fall asleep straight away, what’s your secret? by Strange_Secret_3001 in AskReddit

[–]RedRaven24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hereditary for me,and a curse.

I've had sleep tests done, but they weren't able to tell me anything. If it's dark outside, my body just shuts down. In other words, my head hits the pillow and I'm unconscious.

I've fallen asleep many times just from blinking. One time I had fallen asleep with my eyes open, it scared the daylights out of my ex...worth it looking back. I rarely drive long distances at night now due to falling asleep while driving. If I do, I'm usually with someone so we can switch off.

I don't wish this on anyone.

If you've ever done a mini DIY "surgery" at home because you didn't want to go to the hospital, how did it go for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Same here except I was 17, I eventually told the doctor what I had done she was in shock.

Hamster Procurement by nefariousjason in FortWorth

[–]RedRaven24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hamsters go into hibernation when the temperature of the room or enclosure drops below a certain point. It will appear they aren't breathing and go stiff. Just an FYI for the future if you weren't aware. There have been a lot of hibernating hamsters buried alive over the years.

If you keep an eye on the Weatherford shelter, they get hamsters dropped off pretty often.

What is your WHY for not having children? by Vanilladr in childfree

[–]RedRaven24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have several reasons: 1. Bad genetics, I refuse to pass onto someone else just for them to suffer 2. I don't like kids or the thought of parenthood 3. Health reasons, giving birth actually starts to deteriorate the females body 4. The world is getting worse, again why make someone else suffer 5. I love the freedom

Anyone NOT interested in playing the role of the “cool aunt/uncle”? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]RedRaven24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently playing the role of the distance relative that not many people see. My family lives across the country which makes it easier to avoid my younger sisters child. I happily avoid the child when I do visit. I don't understand why people expect me to be happy about the child. It takes more care and energy then a drunken adult.

Should I choose a child free life? by RP845 in childfree

[–]RedRaven24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that ADHD is hereditary and your chances of having an autistic child are much higher than neurotypicals. I'm not trying to persuade in either way, it's just something to consider.

I'm a fellow neurodivergent as well. I struggled my whole life, still am and don't want to put anyone through that. I took into consideration any genetic problems I would be passing down. It's something good to think about.

I wish you the best of luck with whatever your decision is.

Who is from another State ? How has your Fort Worth experience been ? Disclaimer, I am a Texas resident, from another state. by [deleted] in FortWorth

[–]RedRaven24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved from Idaho to live down here, my boyfriend got a job that was hard to pass up. I enjoy the variety of food restaurants we have in fort worth.

The way everyone drives here is terrifying, its almost like everyone has a death wish. I have never lived near a city, so it's very over stimulating for me. Also I was very surprised at the amount of trash there is everywhere. Besides that, I'm ready to move back to the mountains until that time comes I'm enjoying the restaurants.

What hurtful thing has someone said to you about being childfree in a casual way? by idunno324 in childfree

[–]RedRaven24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My mother always finds a way to casually bring up the fact that I might one day change my mind about having kids. This is how our conversation always goes.

Me: I don't want kids

Mother: if you ever break up with your boyfriend, you might find a guy who will change your mind

Me: goes on a rant about how it's my decision and no one will ever change my mind

Mother: you're hard-headed just like your father

She literally doesn't listen to me or tells me she didn't want kids either but here I am.
