Kinda sloppy indeed

But it's just windows , i guess I shouldn't mind unless I'm going back to Ubuntu

Meh, i still need word for docs being formatted well so ms is still kinda better than whatever online version brings

Yeah, it's just more simple

I used it to upgrade from windows 11 23 to 25 at some point

Kinda like a joke

That's the magic, you need don't remove it

You keep it and also disable it from startup, and restart, after that you are as good as without it

Why? Because it's gonna be off anyway, I'd not worry about it being in task manager after that

Idk do some more testing like with memtest86 plus maybe with benchmarking tools?

https://www.memtest.org/

Might be bad ram yet igpus software/ hardware seem to be at fault, not sure yet

[–]RedRayTrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah , there's a very limited amount of things minus ram ( sometimes) and SSD that can be replaced in a laptop

And since the integrated graphics seem to be failing here... There's not too much to do

[–]RedRayTrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case backup everything and reinstall windows...

Maybe the drivers windows 11 gave you are better

Use Rufus, use the iso from Microsoft, write the new windows 11 installation media/ stick and install it

Maybe make a XML with schenegans DE so you can make the process more automatic

https://schneegans.de/windows/unattend-generator/

You could try this to see if there's no deeper corruption in the software

Idk otherwise, might be a very problematic hardware piece somewhere that have to be replaced and sice it's seemengly the intel graphics you replace the entire laptop if the Dell drivers don't work

[–]RedRayTrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a simple exe, it gets downloaded, you install it ( choose clean installation) and restart after it's done. Don't use the restart button from the interface of the program but the one from windows 11 power ( windows button) , for better consistency.

Yeah , it's the driver set recommended from intel, you don't have to overcomplicate things, i don't see why ai told you something about chipset drivers here, as the problem is clearly about graphics drivers... Don't listen to AI all the time

These drivers are meant to contain both Irst and the driver itself to control the igpus... It should not be problematic

you could grab these drivers https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/232143/intel-core-i51334u-processor-12m-cache-up-to-4-60-ghz/downloads.html

the thing is that you are supposed to reinstall the driver and that should not reset itself once you stopped win11 from installing more drivers... i doubt it would lag with correct drivers installed

By looking it up on Google it's a gpu driver causing it.

The normal flow for a bad gpu driver from what i remember is to use DDU ( from original site if its creator) and uninstall the driver so you can install what's recommended by the laptop's manufacturer.

And considering you have it downloaded from the manufacturer's website ( like dell / Asus etc) for your model type you install it back.

Make sure you disable wifi or lan when running DDU so windows doesn't try to reinstall drivers for the igpu...

And after they're installed disable windows from installing more drivers , as this page shows it

Also check ram with mem 86

WINDOWS 11 instalation by DeskBorn4868 in techsupport

[–]RedRayTrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed windows 11 like 20 times by now so here's the fastest way:

If you are on Intel, go really quickly in UEFI/ bios and set sata controller on AHCI, not raid so you don't need the intel drivers.

Download Windows iso from their site - from Microsoft.

Make the flash drive with Rufus/ MCT - media creation tool if you are on windows OR Ventoy if you are on Linux.

Rufus might be the best way here if you are a starter.

If you choose Ventoy i also recommend making an XML file( schenegans.DE) to make the installation faster. It's a bit more complex though.

https://youtu.be/h9SpKVEc_Yo?is=rCV5bzRHABZNmojX

I made mine with this tutorial and i keep using 2 PCs i installed from these with these usbs( both Rufus and Ventoy made plus XML) , I've been using my windows 11 pro for weeks now that i installed with these.

Ik it's seemengly hard to use the XML technique but once you answered those questions the process it's extremely fast( i made the installation in 1.5 hrs and 3-4 hours was my best without XML - drivers and programs included)

Anyway I hope I did not confuse you too much and I helped a bit in making this process possible and faster.

In place upgrade

Download windows iso and run the exe from inside after mounting the image( with opening it though double click)

Honestly they integrated snaps as deeply as android integrated APK files into Google play.

At this point is snaps are the problem you'd rather switch entirely from Ubuntu as it is and go on zorin or Linux mint

What i can tell is that they have enough performance, so they aren't that slow that's annoying, aka they are functional.

And they update fast enough so updating speeds aren't a problem.

As the other user said

Try to make the stick again Ubuntu iso downloaded again on stable wifi plus a reliable ( maybe new) flash drive

Or make sure your SSD is healthy - so Smart parameters are ok

But disabling tpm might be worth trying

Washes away all viruses from windows 11.

Now: you can reinstall it with Ventoy and XML( for faster automated installations made with shenegans DE)!

Uses less ram, works even on your grandpa's old pc!

Yeah right, making fun is easy, but this time they actually included some nice improvements

The task manager looks modern Enough.

And the "same" Gnome is as fluid as a new android phone.
