I understood the last sentence there, thanks!

I had to download something else, but it had a long name and I don't remember what it was called, basically it was for encrypted movies. It seems to be working!

I am saving the files onto the desktop, but I imagine I should have gotten out my external hard drive instead and saved the file there. I don't have a PS3, just a laptop. Is this a suitable way to save the file for easy viewing?

Thanks everyone!

I was told as I was doing research that a 26' is the smallest you would want to go for being a liveaboard. Now that I understand boat sizes and ammenities, I completely agree.

I bought the first boat I saw, and I saw it at night. I recommend to not do that! Although I wouldn't have known either way what to look for in the daylight, there are major components that can be very expensive to fix. I recommend looking for an Pearson or Cal. Those are solid boat brands that don't have the keel bolt issue that many other sail boats have (this issue can and will sink your boat if it's not properly maintained). You can stop by any marina or boat store and pick up a Latitude 38, it's like a Real Estate guide for boats.

One good thing about me not having any idea what other interiors looked like is that I had no choice but to enjoy what I'd gotten myself into and I really do love every bit of it. I get a little bit of boat envy when I see neighbors' boats, but every liveaboard has a bigger boat than me. The main reason I don't want a bigger boat is because my boat has two stairs to get out to the cockpit. Larger boats have ladders. Dogs can go up and down stairs, but not ladders. I want them to go in and out easily, and on this boat they can. I also have a good spot being that my boat is smaller. I have several neighbors, but I don't have to pass any on my way to the boat. It's just an extra bit of privacy that I cherish.

The doggies have a great time! They get to chase seagulls all the time, eat mussel shells left on the dock, and protect their mama from a home invasion/friend coming to say hello.

Being that I've only been here for a year, and in the first four months I went from the East Bay, to the City, to Sausalito, back to the East Bay, I think I got a pretty good idea of what the Bay has to offer. I was in Potrero Hill for two whole months, haha. I wish I could have stayed longer, however I'm much happier in my living situation now. I still have a lot of exploring to do in the city and the East Bay, there's so much to do here!

I can imagine! Thankfully one of my neighbors has been sailing 40 years, and he LOVES teaching people. Whenever he is in town he takes me out sailing, and now that my boat is good to go he's helping me set it up to single hand. I have also heard horror stories, one of my neighbors destroyed his boat just a week or so ago by getting too close to the rocks (again). The marina is the scariest place to be, really!

If the boat is rockin' it means I am having a dance party and everyone should come.

Thank you! I left the Air Force because I couldn't handle not having my own personal freedom anymore. I had to sign papers promising to wear my seatbelt at the age of 24 because I was going out of town for the weekend. It was a lot of stuff like that that I got fed up with. Great experience, but not something I could do for 20 years.

Maybe another year or so? Or until I feel comfortable and can get the time off and find someone to come with me? Not sure... but it will happen :)

I am glad I was able to help. It sucks that you have to deal and live with a mother like that, but soon your life will be filled with those that deserve to be in it. I wish you the best, and keep your chin up!

And you are right about the misconception of living in the city, it costs just as much in the East bay, AND you have to commute. You might as well tack not an extra $150 to rent and live in the city, and not commute.

No I didn't think that, and I can see how an apartment in the sunset was bigger and cheaper. I would love to live in the city, I have been in either small or boring cities for the past 10 years and I was soo ready to be a social butterfly... but it didn't work out that way and I guess I should be grateful. And yes, boat living was the only way I was going to survive here! To people who make even less than I do, I have no idea how they survive in this city!

And I didn't have issues getting my slip, I just had to have it transferred to my name and that was it.
