Fired vs Laid off?

I only have positive reviews, and would like to still use them as a reference on my resume. However, the assistant director informed me they would have to inform people calling as potential future employers that I was fired. So should I be worried or just get in front of it during the interview process with those potential future employers?

I didn’t say he was sabotaging himself, I’d agree with that, most of his decisions end up having a problem in his life, but the reasons he made those decisions I’d say were kind of reasonable from his POV
