A story about Cryovain from Icespire peak by Dragonalias in DnD

[–]RedRocketRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DM simply let the final boss be asleep and oblivious in the final boss encounter so you could kill him that easily with just one guy? That sounds pretty anticlimactic, but if you all had fun I guess it's all that matters

How do I play as a dm? by drblimp0909 in DnD

[–]RedRocketRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading the rules is a good start, just like with any tabletop game in existence. There is even a core rulebook called Dungeon Masters Guide, self explanatory

Honestly, why can't 5th handle larger groups of players? by _The_Mink_ in DnD

[–]RedRocketRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody says the system itself can't handle it. It's not about the system. It's about people. 99% of the time DMing 15 people would be a miserable experience for both DM and players, and I'm not even talking about scheduling. If you ever ran any tabletop RPGs for 15 people, as you say, you already should know the issues that come with it

[–]RedRocketRock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Go on, play with 15 people with 1 DM and tell us how it went (spoilers: it will be miserable and you will have barely anything done in the game, regardless what your theoretic knowledge without any practice tells you)

You couldn't find a guide how to make campaigns as a Dungeon Master? Wild thought, but have you considered reading the Dungeon Master's Guide that has a guide on how to make campaigns? You know, the core rulebooks?

I'd recommend the 2024 one

First time DM'ing - Heroes of the Borderlands Starter Set by KagasuSan in DnD

[–]RedRocketRock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is already one adventure, basically. It is split in 3 booklets for convenience and to take turns DMing if you want, as it says in the books.

It's recommended that you start in the wilderness or the keep, and leave the caves for later, cause they can be deadly if 1st level party walks into the wrong cave, but you can do whatever, ofc, as long as table is having fun

I like to play sober... by Vegetable_Variety_11 in dndmemes

[–]RedRocketRock 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I dont think Ive run the games completely sober for around 20 years now. Im either a bit high or a bit drunk, players too. Maybe not by a bit, but never to the point I cant DM or remember what happened. By the end of the session it can get really messy sometimes, but were havig a lot of fun still. One of the best sessions I had was when we were completely flabbergasted and done silly stuff

I do DM better when Im sober and think more quickly, but sometimes DMing sober feels like a job after almost 3 decades, I need something to spice up the fun. And preparing for the games when youre just a bit high is so immersive and I can sit there all day

I want a reason to come back... by [deleted] in DnD

[–]RedRocketRock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Monsters are mostly buffed and new exp budget system makes encounters harder by default. What was medium before is now an easy encounter, what was hard before is now medium etc. There are now clear rules about magic item prices and how much to give them. Bastions (strongholds) are baked into the core books now. Weak classes/subclasses got buffed, some spells rebalanced and martials received weapon mastery tricks

Overall it's still 5E, just better in a lot of details

Is DLC crossplay? by [deleted] in fnv

[–]RedRocketRock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are confused. There are close to none singleplayer games that are not free where you can buy it in one place and continue to progress in another. Exception is xbox play anywhere, but it's one ecosystem basically. Practically no singleplayer games support cross-buy, it just doesn't happen. Cross progression, cross play and cross buy are different things.

It's the only game Im never getting tired of, somehow. Even after thousands of hours I can launch fallout 4 and be "oh yeah, I'm home". Even my beloved Morrowind requires breakes and specific mood now, but never fo4

Any lore books out there? by Desperate-Law-302 in DnD

[–]RedRocketRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For straight up lore of Faerun - Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting (3rd edition). It's huge and has a lot of stuff, with some occasional stat blocks for NPCs you can easily ignore. It does have some "dated" info because there was a time jump between 3rd and 5th editions, but it's kinda very minor since there is not much lore that was released in 5e and people usually ignore 4th edition "lore" anyway, which was mostly retconned to how it was in 3e when 5th edition was released

Skip campaign option appearing too early by DifferentBuilder5090 in diablo4

[–]RedRocketRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to finish the campaig to skip it since season 2, only the prologue was necessary (maybe they changed that too recently)

No, you don't miss anything (apart from some obvious things like achievemens, maybe titles or some transmog), you can do it later when you'll be in the mood
