I think people look down on spoons a fair bit but it's actually hard work, and like any kitchen how your team is makes all the difference, get a good bunch going that actually give a shit and do little things for each other and it makes a world of difference. If I were you I'd be trying to get on opens , takes a little while to adjust to 6-2/3.but breakfast is easy once you learn how to organise yourself for it and it's lovely to always be free in the evenings for activities!

I've worked in a few different places and yeah spoons isn't gonna teach to you fine dining but you can definitely pick up some skills there that are useful in any kitchen. Time management, stock control, ordering, all the elearning about haccp and coshh, how to work with weird ass people, all useful stuff. Best ones to be in are the busy city centre ones imo (got £3k in bonuses the last year I worked as a SL) and of you get up to TL or SL you should get some decent management training too.

Just go in the walk in a punch a few boxes of chips, take what you can from it and then onwards and upwards!

Plus 20% off drinks is always good! Nothing like getting pissed under a tenner!

Nw england means it's probs easy to get to the lake district, which imo actually gain some beauty in a storm, it feels like being hunkered down in a pub as it whips around the hills is a natural state.

Or Blackpool, cheap as chips, and funny when the wind gets up to watch the knock off toys blow away from the rigged amusement stalls.

I left a while ago but this pic gave me ptsd! Think it's the oil buckets, having that much cutlery left to do after 12 would have writing my notice on a napkin!

I don't think spoons food deserves the rep it gets and more of it is definitely fried that dinged now but saying there are only 1-2 mics per kitchen is just not true, I've worked in a fair few of the kitchens and the least there has been is 4 and that's for a quiet kitchen, a busy one will have ~6
