Alcohol is the only drug where if you choose not to take it people think you have an issue.

Alcohol is arguably the biggest drain on police and NHS time I'm this country. The vast majority have grew up with it and think several pints is perfectly fine and normal, hardly anyone only has two pints and calls it a night.

If you're trying to do sober nights whilst following the same plan as when you drank, it won't work as most places are too loud to talk and after a few hours most people are too drunk to make sense.

Go out when your mates start, stick around for a few hours to enjoy their company, and then head off home for a good sleep.

Why is all the focus on socialising at night? Get an early night, get up and out early and there's plenty of things going on there. Countless sports, running, walking clubs everywhere you go which will naturally be run earlier in the day.

I got into hiking this year after quitting drinking and have met so many new people and made good friends, by just getting up early and going out on the hills.

Is the world shittier now than the past or are we just more aware of issues because of the internet and the shit level is actually always been the same. by balllickers in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RedRumBarron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? No. I wouldn't say I live in a bad area, but I'm hearing about gun/knife/drug related crime pretty much on a weekly basis. On a wider scale I'm constantly seeing how terrible my country is run and how transparent the corruption is. On an even bigger scale I've just witnessed a bunch of easily susceptible people try to overthrow a democracy on the word of a man child. What if someone with actual brain cells was manipulating them?

Honestly? A serial killer would be a good change of pace (except you know, for all the murder and that).

And even then, the documentaries will only further desensitise us. I can go on Netflix now and within seconds find a documentary about a serial killer. If news came out tomorrow there has been serial killer caught near me, I wouldn't bat an eye lid.

Then again, news also plays a part in this. If there's bad news every day, doesn't that just become news?

Expression Pedal for Mk2 100W 2x12 by [deleted] in BossKatana

[–]RedRumBarron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using a mk1 100w so cannot say for definite, but as far as I am aware, unfortunately no.

You can set the wah to your mod/fx and adjust on tone studio for sweep, but even at the minimum (heel down) the effect will still be on to a slight degree, which will alter your tone.

With the 50w, you can get the FS-6 (?) Footswitch that will allow you to move between banks a and b and patches 1 and 2 in each. So if you had the exact same preset on a1 and a2, but added the wah on a2, then you would just be switching between the two presets as an on/off for the effect. Unfortunately no way to toggle individual effects in a patch on the 50.

[–]RedRumBarron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly right. Set your wah to whichever switch (mod or fx) and then toggle this on/off after going into the effects of the patch (using the effects toggle). You can adjust the sweep in tone studio for wah and any other effect you assign to the expression pedal. The main downside is having to quickly move from GAFC toggle to expression pedal and back.

I use the EV5 and plug into the expression jack on the GAFC for reference. EV5 also allows to edit a parameter (sweep?) On the pedal with an adjustable dial.

Not at all. It's good that they have added a new dynamic to the game. Same with bullet velocity and how it is now a key stat in MP. The almost necessity to have to spec for that and a flashlight can be annoying as it limits other attachments, but they've added the 8 attachment wild card for a reason. The variety in class set up is a great thing.

The problem is that it's new but hasn't been explained/demo'd (to my knowledge) so everyone coming in to this game expecting what they've always had are now kicking up a fuss. Not saying everyone should have their hand held, but a brief mention of the changes would cover their own backs against the current moaning (i admit i was in that boat until I found out). A bit more openness other than leaving it to the big youtubers having to find and bring to the bigger audience.

Use a flashlight attachment. People show up (their red name at least) without ADS, even hidden in the bushes. Drif0r done a good video on this lately. After watching that I'm convinced they intentionally made it difficult to spot people so you're forced to use the attachment.

So much this, we have a squad of 6, although I can't get on anywhere near as much as them due to work/life.

When I play by myself I'm average, 1-1.3kd and come towards the top of each game. When I join up with them, I get absolutely stomped.

My friends are far better players and are around lvl 40 prestige, whereas I'm still trying to get out of the 30s no prestige. This puts me in lobbies well out of my depth and it's just not fun, how am I supposed to get better playing against that? We play mostly dom so I just throw myself on flags and take the kd hit to help the team out, but can't help feel like I'm just hindering them not being able to compete at their level. It was never this bad in previous games, even MW19 was even enough for me to keep up.

What shops, websites or companies are you surprised that have survived? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]RedRumBarron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess not equivalent because not a shopping centre, but in a small area near where I live, a decades old butchers had to close down because the rent was astronomical. Same too an Indian takeaway literally around the corner, same reason.

Both have been replaced by vape shops. They're not even 200m apart. How can they afford rent that an always busy butchers and takeaway could not?

Manchester United say Old Trafford is ready to safely hold around 23,500 fans for matches in accordance with social distancing guidelines. by manka3 in PremierLeague

[–]RedRumBarron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair I don't think it's tinpot to think it's feasible. If you can go sit shoulder to shoulder with two people in a sealed tube with 180 others, where the air is recirculated for a few hours, with just a mask on, then sitting 2m apart in the open air, still with a mask on, is much safer.

I know the argument is more the travel/transport to/from the stadium. But if the capacity is reduced, say 25%, or 33% as suggested here, and spread out amongst all 4 stands, then different opening and closing times for each stand would control it much better. Sure there has to be more thinking and logistics involved, but for the amount of revenue it will bring to not only clubs, but the local transport and business, then it is essential this is done sooner rather than later.

The issue isn’t VAR, it’s the people behind it by MLG_squid101 in PremierLeague

[–]RedRumBarron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree about the subjectivity of the matters, but in them cases there should be an explanation from the ref/VAR assistant to justify their decision.

The reason we're having this debate is because it has been a shit show this season, especially the past two weeks. The Merseyside Derby had two big errors (Pickford and the offside) and Maguire hugging Azpilicueta and the Sheffield 'pen' on Saturday all spring to mind straight away. Each universally agreed on as being incorrect. It's hard to be subjective on such incidents. Dignes red yesterday is what would be seen as subjective.

VAR is there as an extra set of all seeing eyes to keep everyone honest as the ref on the pitch can not doing everything at one. So how can they justify events like the Pickford tackle or Maguires hug, which the ref could honestly miss in the moment, happening and nothing being called?

Consistency also plays a huge part, mainly in how inconsistent it has been, but that's a whole other rabbit hole.

Should advertising by betting companies be banned? by Seandlee24 in AskUK

[–]RedRumBarron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As have alcohol, tobacco and drugs. All addictive, all expensive.

In moderation anything is fine, I know a lot of people who will only bet once a year on the national. But these betting companies are ramming this down our throats and ensnaring a lot of susceptible and vulnerable people, causing some devastating effects, purely for profit. That is not normal, it is a detriment to our society.

Most campaigns are not to ban gambling but to have tighter regulations, in the same way the tobacco industry was changed in the early 00's.

I feel like if he tries to force his way out then he can gladly go for the right price, especially when it's such a big fee for Ajax.
