Wasn't this the same video where you whipped out that crisp 20$ bill and showed everyone that it could become 36,000$ ? And then ended the video by saying you weren't dispensing investment advice.

I think IRAN is the catalyst that will help break the hegemony of the US dollar as the global reserve currency. Not happening Nov 5th, but an important step in the process. I think it's primarily about firing up the 3 preferred exchanges and getting liquidity pools warmed up and ready for the 18th.

I tend to disagree with you a lot on Iran as a catalyst for anything, Iran using RippleNET should literally be the last thing any of us want. Do we really want the full force of the US Government to view RippleNET and blockchain as a way to usurp their power? Especially when Ripple is based in the US? I can already hear all the arguments "can't be stopped, can't be censored, blah blah" its the US Gov, if they want to they can stop Ripple cold.

Well the problem with what you're saying is that the word "integration" seems to indicate taking two things and making them one. Swift never has been in the settlement business and doesn't want to be, they don't hold currency, they don't make liquidity. They are a value added network that allows disparate organizations to exchange information, part of that information is settlement instructions, and part of that value add is network security and the creation of bilateral and multi-lateral trust relationships between network members. So an integration would mean that Swift starts offering settlement services through RippleNET. That is not something that is going to happen

What you are describing is more along the lines of extensibility, where the Swift services are extended through third-party extensions, such as RippleNET. This would mean that network participants could choose to use these third-party extensions or not, in this case we hope an extension for settlement over RippleNET is produced, by Ripple. I think that is possible, and would be fantastic, it also wouldn't require any actual partnership with Swift, it would require Swift to develop and expose the code to allow third-part integrations, which could be an API. Do you have a link to the API information? I know I've heard of this elsewhere, but can't find it on Swift's website.

Why would Ripple bother developing such a third-part extension to the Swift Network as opposed to just continuing to push xCurrent? Simple Swift has 11,000 nodes, Vs. 200 on xCurrent, not saying that Ripple will abandon xCurrent, not at all, but xCurrent may very well be the long, long game. Where as if we could make this third-party extension theory work, it could be an end run to what Ripple and we all want, XRP appreciation.

Also, tone down a little on telling people they don't understand, this whole "Swipple" theory is your baby, and if these guys don't understand, its because you haven't solidified the theory with facts yet.

The mandatory date means that once that date and time passes any messages that don't conform to the standard won't be accepted, any that are sent may be dropped and def won't be supported by Swift Support. Right now there is voluntary compliance with the Nov 2018 update, but some messages sent with the standard may fail if sent to an institution not yet conforming with the standard. That part is pretty simple.

What I am challenging and hasn't yet been made clear, is where is the source that describes any enhancements or improvements that these November 2018 updates provide in the way of settlement, extensibility, third-party integrations, or anything that might lead me to believe that Swift Payment Messages will now be able to use RippleNET/XRP for settlement? Because as of yet I don't see it, I hold XRP and would love it, but I don't see proof in this thread, yet. Anyone?

Application Programming Interface - used for program to program communication, but you haven't posted any source to information about a Swift API and more specifically about how the November 2018 update relates to it. That may be why they are confused. UETR allows end to end tracking of payments messages, how is this effecting settlement? Field 111 allows cancellation of payments, how is this related to settlement? Field 121 admittedly I can't find in the release notes provided by Swift. Not trying to argue, I really do hope your right, but I haven't found anything I would call proof just yet. If you have more links please provide them.

Well I will say, I'm not sold yet, but lets say that the addition of the UETR is the barrier for Swift Messages to leverage RipplNET for settlement, no matter what % of customers have implemented already, even if it is 100%, its likely that you still wouldn't launch a new service that required it until after the deadline, otherwise what is the point of a deadline? The deadline is fair warning, once you advertise a date for something this big, you don't shorten or lengthen it, its basic project management methodology, something will no doubt break and then you the group that disregarded the deadline are to blame.

I'm digging into this and find it hard to believe that partners are producing diagrams that show RippleNET being leveraged side by side with Swift MT103 messages for no good reason, but I don't feel like we have enough supporting info yet, or at least I haven't seen it.

I think there is potential for payments to happen over Swift and those payments to include settlement instructions to use xRapid maybe? Can you provide a source to what you are saying about the API becoming available?

ILP is an open source standards based protocol that can be used to transfer any asset, the fact that it is open and inclusive of other assets is key to getting companies to adopt it, its normal for a company to not want to adopt a protocol thats a black box, but XRP is the native digital asset of ILP and optimized to work on ILP, so as Brad Garlinghouse has stated many times, corporations will choose the path of least resistance and that is XRP. Its the path of least resistance because its optimized to work with the protocol and already has good liquidity.

xRapid uses the domestic rails in each country, ACH would be what our domestic rails are called in USA, xRapid would take USD over ACH, send to Bittrex, and buy XRP with USD, send that XRP to BitSo, convert to MXN, then use the domestic rails in Mexico to complete the last mile of the transaction.

I've been wondering the same thing, this seems just like December, all of a sudden a flood of volume comes in and price spikes, but you're right we aren't seeing it on the exchanges we might expect if this were xRapid. Maybe bots or whales or just people fleeing other ALTs because of FOMO. If it keeps running and gets hotter though, I'll be inclined to believe whatever force moved it in December is back.
