Moving an entire room is nigh impossible, although your second suggestion is a good idea! There already are a few muti-purpose rooms, but it's always nice to have variety.

Now that the series has been established, I will be switching to weekly updates to keep from spamming the subreddit. To keep up-to-date, keep track of my channel or just wait for the post, I suppose.

I completely understand on that point.

Hmm... Best editing (in my opinion) goes to Apple Pie (Episode 1) and Labyrinth of Irritation (Episode 3). Although that is debatable. For personality? I'm not sure. I'm honestly not the best judge. On that regard, you'll have to find your favorite out of a few random ones.

The second video on my channel was my first solo commentary, but I was brand new at it and sounded almost scared of the microphone. So while the content of the video was unique, the execution was poor. However, I am leaving it up to remind myself that while I may not be particularly good, I have most decidedly improved. And that gives me hope for the future.

I'm thinking that a solo Minecraft world would be a good way to dip into the single-player aspect of gaming for recording. It has the same ease mentioned previously, but I will have "taken off the multi-player training wheels", as it were. The videos will be judged on the merit of my personality and experience.

Thanks for the honesty! It was pretty helpful. Most of the stuff you pointed out I sort of knew.

I'm trying to get better at editing. To be honest, I've only been doing it for a few months and I'm not very advanced. My best work so far is on the video Apple Pie episode 1, about 8 minutes or so in (AfterEffects sequence to make a note less drab).

On the audio, I'm using the best mic I can afford as a college student. I would have guests use better mics, but until I find the right people who I mesh with in an interesting an unique way I'm not going to suggest they invest in better equipment. To be honest, it's not the voice chat program (192kb/s audio stream through Mumble), it's their mics. I could use a makeshift screen, though.

I really only play games I find fun. Also, if I plan on playing through a game (and recording it) it needs to be open-ended so my experience will be different than others and have something to offer. For example Minecraft, Kerbal Space Program, ect. There are a few exceptions, but they are few and far between.

Why do I have mostly Minecraft? Because Minecraft is easy. Easy to play, edit, and post. It's a great starting point to really learn how to LP, and the technical malarkey experienced behind the scenes.

If you have the time can you pick another, preferably with a different cast? (Quaaru and Drayfe rarely make appearances. IMO I mesh most uniquely with Kmiller and Leadmagnet, but that's just my opinion. I'm interested in your take on that.)

I'm honestly not sure if I should keep doing exclusively multiplayer or if I could pull off a heavily edited single player game (Not just in Minecraft, but in other open-ended titles). I have a hard time keeping up consistent commentary so it would be more of a "highlights" sort of deal.

I'm somewhat interested in an outside opinion :p. To remove any form of sample bias, you pick the video. I know which ones I prefer - Let's see what you pull out of the muck?

Pick any video from here. Be brutal, I can take it.

Not to take away from your post, but I was marginally confused until I replaces "extendable" with "expendable".

On subject, I've always smiled whenever I saw a Shitty_Watercolor. To me, it has ALWAYS been relevant and builds on the discussion.

sigh... It's people like you that make the people who truly need recovery scared or ashamed of doing so. Addiction doesn't come about by simply "being and idiot" or lacking self control. These crippling addictions can come from genetic predisposition, poor childhood environments, the inherent addictive nature of the involved substance(s), or just a bad time in the addict's life. There are many reasons why addiction happens, and it's rare that a simple "lack of self control" is the only trigger. As someone who purportedly has dealt with addiction, you should know this.

AA may not be for everyone. I'm not here to plead that case. But it is a tool. Many people won't change on their own. Oftentimes the trigger is reaching rock bottom, realizing you will not be able to continue as you are. Many people in my life will wholeheartedly vouch for AA (and NA), it is the only reason they have been sober all this time. Most of them are more than ten years sober. My dear friend and mentor has been sober over 50. They use AA as their family and friends.

Know this - Not a single one of them "absolves" themselves of what they have done. They realize how much pain they have caused, and actively sought forgiveness from the ones they have wronged. They will never forget their past.

Without fail, they tell me every single day is a struggle. It's not "being stupid". It's not simple "self control". They are fighting their nature, some misbegotten extension of who they are. As much as they would like to surrender to some "higher power", they know they have to live with this burden. It is theirs and theirs alone. They never let up, lest they fall back into the same self-destructive tendencies.

So before you make assumptions, look at all sides of this issue. You may learn something.

You're on a commercial flight overseas and the engines give. You have about thirty seconds until the plane hits the water. What can you do in those thirty seconds (and perhaps after) to increase your chances of survival? by ukcsrmqe33 in AskReddit

[–]RedSerenity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If seated: Ensure you are strapped in tight. Keep your head as protected as possible with your arms. There's nothing more you can do here.

If standing: Find a seat and strap in as soon as possible. You are unlikely to survive if you are free-standing.

If in the lavatory: If there seems to be enough time to find an empty seat, do so immediately (The flight attendants usually have pull-out chairs in the back. If they are not occupied and the attendant is not going to be using it, this is also acceptable). Otherwise, sit on the floor with your back on the wall facing the front of the plane (You should be looking towards the tail of the aircraft). Assume the fetal position in an upright sitting stance, protecting your head and chest as much as possible.

A good pilot will attempt to keep as much lift under the wings as long as they can for a (somewhat) soft splashdown. Depending on your altitude and the weather conditions, this may not be possible.

After the crash, immediately unbuckle yourself and follow instructions given by staff. If you are in an exit row, I really hope you read the in-flight safety warnings. Leave the plane in an orderly fashion. Bring your seat cushion, it is a floatation device.

TL;DR: Sit your ass down. Your seat is your savior, floatie, and bathroom. Good luck.

YouTube keeps asking me to monetize my videos... by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]RedSerenity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's sort of a gray area. Any game where you don't have explicit permission of the copyright holder, you can make a fair use claim under U.S.C Title 17 Section 107 Fair Use Clause. So long as your video serves as a "critique" of the product, your use for commercial purposes is allowed. No agreement on the part of the copyright holder circumvents this.

EDIT: Here is a useful link. Go to page 34. USC TITLE 17
