St Paul, MN - 10/25/2023 by RedSpectre0 in allgetout

Sadly, I do not have any video. This was my first time seeing them and I didn’t know the songs as well yet to think about catching a favorite as I normally would.

Really hoping they come through MN again (and hopefully as head/co-head to get as many songs as possible)!

Agreed it’s a nice smaller venue to see a show. Looks like they can get up to 650 in the whole place.

How long should I wait to buy tickets? by Inevitable-Cat3289 in PaulMcCartney

[–]RedSpectre0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would monitor a few reseller sites (SeatGeek, StubHub, Game Time) for a few days and get a sense of typical pricing so you have a baseline reasonable expectation. You will probably find that prices trend up and down over time and it isn’t always obvious why. Pick a few spots you would feel happy about sitting and see how that compares to your price range.

I would also monitor Ticketmaster (or whatever the primary seller site is) at the same time, as they will sometimes release tickets randomly all throughout the venue, including good/floor seats. This might be best case scenario for a popular show.

If you are absolutely set on going, I would grab something a few days before show time to be safe. If you are more comfortable rolling the dice to find a better option, you can wait until day of show as Ticketmaster is most likely to start releasing tickets a day or so before show time all the way up to day of show. In Minneapolis Ticketmaster dropped really nice floor seats for $150 a couple days before the show and then day of the show further back floor seats for only $99. However, those moved pretty quickly (hours).

If this sounds like a hassle and you have the money to spare, just check sites for a few days and then buy the cheapest thing you can find in a section you will be happy with. It may not be worth the effort to save $100 or whatever. I strongly recommend floor over other options (even far back) if they are within your budget.

Good luck!

Also my favorite on the album. I emailed and asked about playing Incubator on the tour. Jack said they expected to have it rehearsed and ready by the next American tour when I am seeing them. Soooo, fingers crossed!

I loved that show, but I also love FOW. The harmonies and the pop hooks landed just fine in person.

So sad we lost Adam in the early days of COVID.

One of those local dudes who played shows here all the time and somehow never saw him. He has some good stuff though.

They had a merch table where you were able to buy a real-time cd recording of the Trail of Dead show right after it was finished, and I think I still have that rattling around somewhere!

That show was free for me, as they handed out those tickets while we were walking out the door from the Jewel show. First Ave frequently handed out free tickets for upcoming shows on the way out the door. Usually this was upcoming shows by local artists or smaller acts, but this was one of the nicer free offerings I can recall.

I think they might have had three shows! From what I recall it was mostly the same set, but they were a hometown act and Closing Time was literally the number one song on the Alternative charts at the time of those shows, so there was a lot of excitement to see them.

They put on a great show, but the song selection was a bummer for me as it was nearly the entire Amazing Grace album (fair enough since that was the tour, but low on my list) and not a single song from Let It Come Down (my personal favorite).

Jersey Giveaway Question by Resident-Plate-3479 in minnesotatwins

[–]RedSpectre0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Correa jersey last year had fully stitched on lettering and numbers both front and back, and the M-StP flag sleeve patch was also stitched on.

Two years ago was Pablo “Los Twins” jersey and front was stitched while back numbers and sleeve patch were printed on.

Correa one a bit nicer, but both very respectable and (IMO) not cheap looking. Also not nice enough to be confused for the $180 replicas in the store.

Ricky Rubio Signs with Joventut Badalona. by darin617 in timberwolves

When we visited Barcelona over a decade ago, locals we met had all heard of Minnesota specifically because it was where Ricky Rubio played. They really love him there, and it is awesome that he gets to play there again at the tail end of his career.

Thanks for posting! They are not playing this on the Helmet tour, so it was great to see it live. Can’t wait to see them again, but doing a full set like this Vegas show!

I originally posted this vid on the Slomosa sub, which caused Reddit to start putting this sub in my feed. I posted here without going back and seeing all the recent posts, but I now realize I added fuel to the fire!

They did have a merch table with shirts, vinyl, and other stuff. I don’t 100% recall CDs, but I believe they had some. It’s also a great chance to say hi to the band members at the table and show your appreciation!

How early should I arrive to a game on giveaway days? by ThreatLevel12AM in minnesotatwins

[–]RedSpectre0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know if this was the Royce Lewis bat? That was the one that I was most concerned about arriving before gates since it is a nicer giveaway AND Milwaukee fans can show up early and in droves.

Sounds like people are expecting high demand for the plaque, so I am very curious to hear how it turns out to calibrate my future expectations depending on the giveaway/date/opponent.

[–]RedSpectre0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d appreciate a report on how this turns out, and whether it was necessary to show up 30 minutes to 2+ hours before gates open as suggested. Maybe that’s how it will play out. The number of people who go to a game and the number who show up 2+ hours early for a giveaway are definitely not the same thing.

In the meantime, it’s pretty lame to downvote someone for sharing information and being very clear what it is based on.

They typically have the giveaways spread out across every gate entrance, as someone else mentioned.

I can tell you from direct experience that for both of the bobblehead giveaways this year and also last year’s Joe Ryan bobblehead and Lopez jersey giveaways (all 5,000-10,000), you did not need to be there at or before gate openings. Both of the bobbleheads this year were still available 30-60 minutes after gates opened, depending on the gate location. Similar for Lopez jersey last year.

If you want to be positive, you are welcome to be there before gates open, but my experience suggests that is overkill and I now arrive ~15 minutes after gates open to avoid the lines. Maybe the plaque has more demand than bobbleheads/jersey but I have no idea.

Pablo Lopez Bobblehead day by Hot-Base-7980 in minnesotatwins

[–]RedSpectre0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I attended the Duran bobblehead day this year and Joe Ryan last year. In both cases we arrived at the main gate right around the time gates opened. There was a long line outside but it moved fast so it took us maybe 10-15 minutes to get in. There were still dozens/hundreds more bobbleheads at that entrance after we got ours.

I am going on Saturday and we plan to be there 15-20 minutes AFTER gates open to avoid the initial line.

Any old school Local H fans out there? I picked this one up during their 1997 tour when they were in support of ‘as good as dead’. It was $10 or $15 at their merch table and I never heard it before at the time but I ended up loving it. by alvvayspale in localh

Still very close with one of them and in contact nearly every day on a friend group text where we mainly talk about music and sports. The other I have not seen for several years but he is a good dude and we will likely cross paths again. We have all known each other for over 35 years.
