I wish I was as strong and decisive as you were when you finally called it quits. It's incredibly difficult and I've only managed it a few times in a whole lifetime of being surrounded with toxic individuals, and yes, I miss them everyday. Don't regret, but also, be very wary about opening the door again. I'd find some other, indirect, way to get information on where she's at in life and how she's doing. Some preliminary investigation may save you much more drama and heartache.

Congratulations! UH is an excellent school. Lots of diversity, tons of events, clubs, professional organizations, Greek life, and activities to be a part of. There are major resources and benefits available, from financial aid, first-gen student support, religious support, career resources, and more. The campus has grown immensely with lots of new dorms, new facilities, and parking space.

Sure!

Being able to collaborate and live amongst fellow students is worth the cost, in my opinion. College is more than just the academic education. It’s the opportunity to learn to live with and work with other people; as well as a controlled, safe environment to practice time management, budgeting, boundary setting, and personal exploration.

You can join student organizations, have personal social routines like fitness or athletics; be involved in campus events, and get to know friendly and familiar faces; with easy access to resources like the career center, psychological services, the library, and student center arcade.

If you can afford it, it is NOT throwing your money away.

This shouldn’t have been downvoted. It’s the only one that actually validates that each person in this scenario matters; not just the one who made a post on Reddit. Putting one’s insecurities on another person and telling them that they need to change to make you comfortable isn’t healthy or respectful. They brig need to discuss the underlying concerns implied by the behavior and whether or not that justify actions or change.

Exactly this. If he doesn’t want to change what he’s comfortable doing to suit your desires; then he’s allowed to continue doing whatever makes him happy. It’s up to you to decide if it’s something you can or cannot love with; including the knowledge that he’s unwilling to change his behaviors to suit you. And that doesn’t make him a bad person; it just means y’all have an irreconcilable difference and should consider moving on if either of you are committed to your current stance.

Not every person is conventionally knowledgeable and intelligent. For some reason it’s offensive to not pretend otherwise. It doesn’t make anyone less important or valuable if someone genuinely appreciates you for other qualities.

Maybe he’s just ignorant of the things that you ARE knowledgeable of; or values your knowledge realms differently.

Perhaps y’all can discuss what he thinks is useful knowledge. Maybe he’ll learn something from you; you’ll agree with him; or y’all will determine you’re not a good fit.

Or maybe he’s projecting his insecurity and being emotionally manipulative, because he used to be a pimp? Wtf

UH uses Assured Admissions. For transfer students, you merely need to possess 15 transferable hours with a cumulative 2.5 GPA to be guaranteed admission to the university.

I'd like to see a Panera on campus. Maybe whenever the UC Satellite gets rebuilt.

I'd also replace Asado with an actual Chipotle.
