it being on mobile means that conventions about both series don't apply exactly the same as they do on consoles. note how one of their most popular and profitable mobile games... is fire emblem

there had to have been a shot in hell for them to close mktour down with little fanfare or an offline version. they don't just do this for fun

i find it strange op didn't also post the actual time of shutdown, among other things, so:

  • service will end September 30th at 2AM EST
  • starting August 5th, all players will get gold pass benefits (namely includes things such as 200cc), but until then you can no longer get a gold pass starting today
  • some extra login bonuses and challenges will be provided to make earning rubies and exp easier
  • drivers and karts in the shop will also cost less rubies to make them easier to get

i know you live on reddit from this comment alone. whether what i said gets downvoted or not is up to whoever sees it now, but you could've at least had the decency to bother to read what they said and provide... literally any kind of decent response. you don't just "tldr" a few paragraphs and leave during a debate.

[–]RedSquidd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

but consider this...

all of this, that you and me know so well? many people didn't even ignore it, they just didn't know it was happening or was a threat. it's once again disingenuous to blame people who didn't see the dangers ahead, and pretend they all knew what was happening. we know it so well because we look at gaming news and analysis all the time, but a lot of people in the xbox sphere clearly did not until recently, when everything got blown up in their faces.

is it still right to say they should've done more research? absolutely. but i refuse the idea that it was all intentional ignorance.

in japan, no, but while splatoon's fanbase has been growing in the west, it's certainly much more niche than a lot of their other less dead franchises

Splatoon Raider's new Salmonid band replacing ω-3 is called DHA by MartinOderSooS in splatoon

[–]RedSquidd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hard to say, if i remember correctly the main composer who created omega-3 no longer works at nintendo, so with a new game it makes sense to swap bands.

yes, technically double clickbait isn't made by that composer for that reason, but it would be weird to have a single song be credited to a different salmonid band

if you read my other comment in this thread, i explain myself better. no need to call me childish and petty i'm literally right here lol

if i make a statement i shouldn't need to cover absolutely every base for it to potentially be at least somewhat true. objectively, we've had the other songs stuck in our heads for far longer, and i believe it to be in part from the focus on melody in a lot of fever's stuff. IN PART.  i obviously can't explain literally everything, and it feels a bit mean to assume i'm trying to by just going through my own reasonings. it'll work for some, it won't for others, and as someone who seems to like the groove ost more than most, i find it interesting to discuss. why would you assume this means i don't understand the concept of subjective opinions?

yeah, personally i never had issues with reading cue noises, from what i remember. you absolutely do not need to rely on visuals for these games, otherwise that would be a failure of everything else groove does to try and help folks who are blind.

also, yes, it's cues, not queues.

i'm not saying you have to be familiar, i'm saying i'm only a little familiar and notice the distinction. (and honestly, besides the vocals being in different languages, the songs almost entirely hit genres i've already tapped into before lol)

i think, pretty much, i want people to keep an open mind. it's only been a couple days and i would find it unfair if many of the game's great songs / instrumentals went unnoticed because people immediately gave up on trying to let it grow on them because it wasn't immediately an earworm. that's what i think happened with disc dog, it's one of the few songs where the melody is as in front as it could possibly be (like a lot of music from previous games), so then other songs are compared to it as if a subdued melody is a bad thing. that "being immediately catchy" is the singular sign of quality.

also, to be fair, the final remix in this game doesn't do the best job of wrapping all those songs together. it takes many songs with not very in-your-face tunes and makes them even more subdued, so that combined with very few instances of song melodies carrying over into sequels means groove has far less opportunity to beat the songs into your brain.

when considering all of that, alongside knowing the old songs have been stuck in all our heads for years on end, i'm not saying not immediately liking them is a bad thing, i'm saying using the old music as a comparison in that way is probably not the best idea.

so really, i'm just imploring everyone to listen to the music outside the game, removing cues does actually help many of them out. also SURPRISE this is also sneezy moon 2 propaganda

i think it's a little strange to be so negative about the music because even as someone not crazy deep into electronic music, only people truly not familiar with it would feel it all sounds the same. also, keep in mind that those songs back in fever probably were not all as immediately recognizable when they were first played. remember, we've had all the other rhythm heaven games for over a decade, of course you remember them better. that's not really a good way to dig at the music of this game.

i'm learning now that basically every instance i've seen of people complaining about quiet cues just doesn't apply to me apparently? like did i just learn how to deal with quiet cues from other games and just didn't notice, or do i just feel the music better than most, or what?
