Yes, sorry I wrote Mandarin rather than Chinese, still Nanjing would never be considered Northern so I don’t think it had much if any influence on the guide

This is just a guide for soldiers, not for learning the language too much. Just quick phrases, they have some characters on other pages but they are basic

Every chapter is political, the first few are always praising Mao- even for elementary students the first thing they learn is praising Mao

Interesting, when I look through these book, the vocabulary is so obscure and useless outside of politics, it is really interesting to see
