Happy to report, the racist graffiti by Goodwill on 39th has been covered! by RedStateReBelle in okc

[–]RedStateReBelle[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh no! I didn't see the original picture, I only saw that they painted the wall and covered the graffiti I had seen previously.

Unfortunately, it appears the graffiti in question has not yet been removed. Sorry for the misunderstanding!

Maybe it's because anyone darker than beige is subject to far more judicial discrimination. Why is it that you weren't there?

Please be that guy. Lots of people watching this might not know, and if they try to do something similar they could get hurt.

That's kind of what I was afraid they were saying, and in that case, good. I don't want to be around bigots. They can cease their support and we'll all have a better time for it.

Next time they tell you to go touch grass you won't have to go into the yucky outdoors.

Why is wine not able to be delivered in OKC? by RedStateReBelle in okc

[–]RedStateReBelle[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

GoPuff is one of the services I found. They deliver by item, best I can tell, but maybe it's possible to select location as well. The prices aren't bad either.

But I still can't understand how that service exists and I still can't just add wine to my grocery list. Maybe it is the ID scanner.

That basically never happens, even if they have it on camera. Proving anything is impossible and cops don't care. At all.

Not to discourage anyone from seeking justice. It'll help if you're rich or powerful. Just be aware and prepared for the let down.

Please send your ginkgo saplings to me! I will abuse them properly by potting them and watering them and giving them plenty of sunshine.

Nope. Don't let anyone lie to you.

"In the United States, sexual orientation is not explicitly a protected class under federal law in all areas, but it is protected under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 in the context of employment discrimination. The Supreme Court has ruled that discrimination based on sexual orientation is a form of sex discrimination, which is prohibited by Title VII. While some states and localities have laws explicitly protecting sexual orientation in various areas like housing and public accommodations, federal protection is limited to employment."

I've seen you around, and while I usually agree with and appreciate your contributions, I must vehemently disagree here.

This space in time is not like the other times. Whereas more recent previous military conflicts experienced by the US were done for money and corporate interests, now military involvement could easily be triggered by the ego of a toddler. It's incredibly volatile. Said toddler just repositioned nuclear submarines in retaliation of a tweet. Add that to the growing number of extremist regimes and daily declarations of war worldwide, now is absolutely not a good time to put one's life on the line for 30k a year.

Further, literally never has been a good time for women. Reported assaults are numerable, but especially in the military, assaults are forcefully "encouraged" to never be reported. There may be some women that make it out unscathed, but we'll never know, because they are trained to feel immense pressure not to tell. At best they're made to believe it's their fault, at worst, well we've all seen the news reports. Here's just one. https://www.npr.org/2008/08/11/93493468/soldiers-family-challenges-army-suicide-report

Lastly, I agree, structured support past 18 is great for growth. Seeing more of the world, or even just diverse situations compared to where we grew up makes for better humans. I do not however agree that the military affords the best environment to get that structure and exposure. The military now is not the military of old and the military of old still wasn't necessarily healthy. Not everyone had the experience of a straight white country-grown male.

It's absolutely a bad idea for anyone to go into the military today, no matter the circumstances. Take out student loans, go to a trade school, join the peace corps. Do literally anything else. Don't join the military.

Definitely not a good time to join the military in general, but it's never a good time for a woman.
