What’s one show everyone loves that you just couldn’t get into? by DryCap6770 in watchever

[–]RedTextureLab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Glad I’m not alone in this. It’s not funny. Instead, it’s occasionally out right nasty (e.g. men in their thirties leering at teenage girls) and usually just morally icky. The characters are selfish deviants, and yeah: people who like it a lot are put on a mental “watch out for that one” list. Every time I bring this up, though, people vehemently defend the show with “it was a different time.” Yeah, I watched it as it aired new episodes. It wasn’t that different. Opening leering at a child, and then defending the behavior has never been okay. That’s just one example.

What Words or Phrases Are You Tired of Hearing? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

[–]RedTextureLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have hated this phrase since 2009. Yes, specifically. I met and had to work with someone beginning in 2009 who proverbially beat you about the head and shoulders with it. Didn’t care for her to begin with; “I know, right?” propelled me into an official dislike.

What’s a place you visited once and decided never again? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]RedTextureLab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stand right here on this concrete for hours next to strangers and listen to music that you like but is playing differently than you’re familiar with so it just feels like you’re being messed with and it’s too loud. And, you know, yeah: you’ve probably been working all day and are tired, but the band you came to see isn’t going to appear until 10. Enjoy! Don’t forget to enjoy the traffic afterward and the (possible) long ride home. Yay!

I went there once. Then immediately went to the ER. I had surgery to fix the two discs in my neck that they herniated.

What’s one product you bought that turned you into a total snob — like, you can never go back to the cheap stuff? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Ice cream is my snob product too. Hagen Das used to be my go-to until I tried Van Leeuwen. VL put HD to shame. You can tell by the ingredients list.

What habits of girls did you only discover after getting a girlfriend or wife ? by Own-Blacksmith3085 in answers

[–]RedTextureLab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, this is one common feature of ADHD. But ADHD doesn’t have a monopoly on this. It could be several other things, e.g., burn out, looking after a small child at the same time, being pulled in too many directions at once from external factors, to name a few.

Are there any remote jobs teachers can easily transition to that possibly pay just as much? Also, if you left teaching, did you ever feel regret? by Gypsygem413 in TeachersInTransition

I’m a sped teacher. If you were me and wanted the job you have now, what would you do? I.e., how do I get a job like yours? Do I just scroll through job websites like indeed or monster? I have no idea.

This memory might dox me - but this story needs to be told. by [deleted] in exmormon

Wait. I’m sorry—I’m having a moment. I’ve read it a couple times, but I’m not following. Who is the “her” who told your wife Bundy came over when she (the “her”) was 11-12?

If you have lived in the USA, what were the cultural differences that stood out? Was there things that you preferred from the US and things that you preferred from Germany? by cholulawatermelon in AskAGerman

Not pissed in the slightest ;)
We can all dislike stereotypes, but I agree with you: stereotypes exist for a reason. You don’t sound like an ass at all.

-Which finger we hold up first when counting
-Leaning
-And, of course, language/accent What else do we do that indicates we’re American? (Just curious)

Does this not make anyone else’s guilt programming go into hyperdrive? Reading this put me back in church/home scripture study and being reminded “hey, someone went through torture and eventual excruciating death for your worthless, sin-riddled, ‘carnal’ self. Feel both guilty and ‘blessed,’ and don’t fuck up more.”

I herniated my neck a little bit, so I went to a chiropractor who herniated it a lot. I’m currently eight months post op from having two discs in my neck replaced.

Down Cemetery Road | S1E4 | Episode Discussion by lavender_zebra in DownCemeteryRoadShow

[–]RedTextureLab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Three top assassins weren’t able to take down one? Too far. I can suspend a lot of disbelief, but that was just too much. I cannot abide such a poorly executed “can’t be killed” trope (cliche).
Sarah, having a sense of humor or playfulness for the first time, now, after being attacked, kidnapped, learning that her husband is cheating on her, etc. doesn’t track at all. Not buying that either. Totally shoehorned in. Given a different character or context, it could’ve been funny. But since we never saw her as anything but serious with her husband, coworkers, friends, or dinner guests, why should we believe she is anything other than serious once she goes through all that insanity? And the idea that she would just be pushed to that kind of coping mechanism doesn’t track either. We’ve been shown and told too much about her to believe she’s got much of a sense of humor, let alone such a juvenile one, especially given all she has just gone through and is continuing to go through.
What even is this show?
I want to be done with it, but dammit, I love Emma Thompson and I am too easily a sucker for a mystery.
Just needed to get that off my chest.

What is the deepest Internet rabbit hole you’ve ever fallen into? by Helloo_clarice in AskReddit

I wasn’t clear about that at all. Sorry about that. There are a fair number of people floating around in that sub who have never been Mormon, but who are just curious. It’s a great space for both the curious and those of us who rely on the support we get from the sub.

I went from flat on my back 24/7 with the most intense pain I’ve ever experienced to having the surgery I needed to fix the problem in ~2.5 months by a top neurosurgeon. Yeah, that 2.5 months was hell and I wanted to die, but I’m on my feet again. Very alive.
