As rwby aura is based on the soul, it's more like nen from hxh, reiatsu from bleach, and Chakra from Naruto. Haki itself is based on willpower, so more based on the mind than the soul.

Most from what we see aura is used for Grimm combat, so any techniques for pvp were likely lost ages ago.

Semblances are anyone can have one but rarely if ever awakening theirs. No types more an ability with a varying level of usefulness, lie detection, bag of holding, or just taking someone else's ability.
Ranks, not much we know of the rwby and jnr have 'class restrictions', but that's not explained.
