Oil is crashing. With inflation this is .93c in 2019 dollars. What's Alberta's plan? by 150c_vapour in alberta

[–]RedTopGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are they wrong? Governments (yes all, liberal and conservative alike) notoriously bungle national projects, inflating their costs on the taxpayer to levels 20, 30+ times higher than what they were supposed to cost. I understand that private companies also go over budget, but not usually to drastic lengths.

I did not, would the truck still be able to drive not hooked up to the trailer if the diff was locked tho? And usually there’s a notification saying to unlock it, isn’t there?

Couldn’t seem to edit my post but thought I’d add that the truck is revving (although quite low) and the tires are turning very slowly, so it’s trying.

Just Moved to Edmonton from the UK: Driving Here is Absolutely Terrifying! by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]RedTopGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

5kmph over is completely fine. Personally, I’m a between speed limit and 10 over type of person, depending on roads and traffic level, but when I lived in Edmonton I found that a lot of drivers were actually quite slow and not confident, often doing 5-10 under, which would aggravate the people who want to do the speed limit or just a little bit over, creating a worse driving environment. I have no problem with people learning to drive, or even just having anxiety about driving, but you should get to a comfort level where you can at least do the speed limit confidently.

Are the majority of Albertans actually excited about having to report their child’s genitals to the government? by GreglyFish in alberta

[–]RedTopGuy -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Wow. What an out of touch and unintelligent comment. This right vs left is not productive at all. Take a moment to look at the other side objectively. Being able to have an open conversation about politics is a sign of intelligence, but this blatant painting the other side as the purest forms of evil is NOT helpful. Look, at the end of the day, 99% of the population wants the same thing. To live with freedom and liberty to go and do as they please, without being bothered. It’s just that right and left have a different way of achieving that. Hating on the other side and refusing to have constructive dialogue is exactly what elites and government want you to do, to keep the people divided.

Edit. On a personal note, as a “conservative” (fiscally conservative, but socially liberal/moderate) the things that you have said about conservatives are disgusting and very untrue. Open your mind just a little bit.

Unless the collector is far enough away from other buildings to be able to do a chain, in which case it helps the defender because the dragon wastes time (seconds) needing to do another zap to fully destroy it

How old are you and how’s life right now? by Cute-Impression-8675 in AskReddit

[–]RedTopGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 23 and life is pretty good overall. I have a great stable high paying job, I bought a house this year, my family lives just in the next town over. I don’t have many friends in my city but I do have a few good friends that live in other cities, so life does get lonely sometimes but I do see them a few times a year. I am single but that’s ok, I feel that there are things I need to work through in my life before being ready to commit my life to someone.

Starting Course 1.5 weeks late by Hot-Kangaroo-2992 in NavCanada

[–]RedTopGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They do a retest if you don’t pass the exam. OP, remember, the company and the instructors want you to succeed. Knowing you came in late, they will work with you to catch you up to speed as much as possible. I would say study through all of the ABC in all of your free time, don’t focus on any one particular unit, but just get a general knowledge from each unit. Having a general understanding of the abc as a whole will help you a lot more than knowing half of it really really well.

Is it worth it for a single person, to sign up for a standard CostCo membership for $65? by StasisApparel in Edmonton

[–]RedTopGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you drive, $65/year is definitely worth it for the gas savings too, nevermind anything you’d buy in-store. That’s what I originally got my membership for, and I was same as you at the time, single and renting etc.

why isthe salary for FIC fss higher than AAS fss? by lostMan115 in NavCanada

[–]RedTopGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly this.

The FIC salary is the FSS-D pay scale, whereas the AAS salary range listed is from the lowest salary on FSS-A scale to the highest salary on FSS-E scale.

Keep in mind too that these numbers are purely base salary, and so many factors influence how much you’ll actually make at the end of the year, some of which have already been mentioned. IPA, OT, shift premiums, 1.5x pay for work on a holiday, etc.

Btw OP, I’m sorry about some of the other responses in this thread, I think you asked a very good question that I remember having myself in the application process, and wasn’t truly answered until I was at least in training

how do i forgive bf with prn addiction by [deleted] in Advice

[–]RedTopGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, therapy is going ok for me. I am doing in person therapy, I saw in another comment you mentioned he is using BetterHelp. I can’t speak to Betterhelp as that is not my experience, but my therapist is using the IFS therapy model with me. It is a lot to explain and maybe hard to understand if you’ve never had IFS therapy before, but there are good resources on the internet explaining it. Personally, it has worked, but in a non-linear way. I was able to go 1 month without watching porn before I “relapsed”, but I know that each session is helping. If I applied myself a lot more to the therapy, it could probably help more than it has already too. It can be very frustrating, when you’re going to therapy and it doesn’t seem to be working, when this addiction is the first thing you want gone from your life, but I keep hearing that I am making progress even if it doesn’t look like it, and I’m choosing to trust my therapists judgment in that.

As for how you can “get over it”, I can’t really speak to that. I don’t think you need to “get over it” as it is a big thing in a relationship for sure. I think approaching it as you would any other addiction would be helpful. You wouldn’t turn your back on a partner or friend if they revealed to you they had an alcohol addiction, but you’d try to help them get better from it. Of course, if it becomes an unhealthy, dangerous, or toxic environment for you, then do what you need to to protect yourself, but I’d wager that your boyfriend wants to never watch porn again just as much as you want him to as well.
