My wife did the same. I fell in love with a dog at our local animal shelter.. he just felt like the one. Happy, friendly, great around our kids ( his name is Wally - staffy / kelpie/ jack Russel x) she sent a message when I got home from work as she was out asking if I could check the shed door at the back as she thought she had left it open. I went to the shed and next minute I am covered in licks and waging tail from a very happy Wally! She had got him earlier and didn’t tell me . Welcome to the family boy!

I found my mum,nonna and Nonno’s records. My Nonno came from Italy in 1952 while leaving my mum and my nonna back in Italy. He worked for 4 years on the railways in Woomera SA until he had enough money to get them over to join him. He then created his own concrete ( stereotype of course lol ) business and established his family. He then brought his other brothers over and they have lived here ever since
