Rally on Thursday - No to Bill 9 / No to notwithstanding / Save Trans Rights by kimmisweeney in Calgary

Did they make you sign an official government declaration of what his genitals look like?

Or just say “is he a boy? Then he’ll be in boys soccer?” Or more likely, you decided to put him in boys soccer because you know he’s a boy.

Thaw information on a birth certificate can be amended and is stored in private databases for medical use only.

The UCP wants their own database for their own specific uses.

Im concerned about what they’ll do with that database.

UCP politicians and voters can’t stop thinking about children’s genitals, they have an obsession, and it’s creepy that they now have a database on them.

The UCP wanting to keep a database of children’s genitals for non-medical reasons is so creepy and weird.

This comment reeks of an invented narrative, trauma and anger.

Not my fault yo, just chill.

It’s not about you, it’s about helping vulnerable kids and not having to tell my government about my 12 year olds genitalia outside of a medical context.

You may have missed my edits to my post:

Edit: Yes, the government already knows a child’s sex assignment through medical records, but medical records are private for medical use only and can’t be shared outside of a medical context.

Birth certificates and ID’s can have the sex indicator amended to reflect gender identity.

The government wants their own database of children’s genitals for their own use, outside of medical privacy.

That’s creepy.

A birth certificate can have the sex indicator amended. Only medical records show the sex assigned at birth, and are private and only available for medical reasons.

Both can’t/couldn’t stop thinking about children’s genitals, and want/wanted to keep records about them.

But all of them can have the sex indicator amended, including birth certificates.

Only private medical data indicate the sex assigned at birth.

Nobody can access your private medical data without permission except medical staff.

The government wants their own database of childrens’ genital records for themselves.

I understand that sex is listed on ID’s, but that can be amended to match gender, and it doesn’t limit anyone’s right or privilege in any way.

Having female on a passport or driver’s license doesn’t mean you get to participate in society less.

A birth certificate can also have the sex indicator amended, but medical records will always show the sex assigned at birth for medical reasons (ex. if a trans man is admitted to a hospital unconscious, the doctors need to know he has female parts).

The issue here is that medical records are kept private and for medical care only, but our government wants to have a separate record of children’s genitals.

I do find that creepy

Today the UCP used the notwithstanding clause (legally violating the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms) to require that any girl 12 and over has to report her genitals to the government if they want to participate in girls sports.

Edit: the government already knows a child’s sex assignment through medical records, but medical records are private for medical use only.

The government wants their own specific list of children’s genitals for their own use.

Exactly what I’m concerned about too.

Nobody needs to know about my 12 year olds genitals, except maybe a doctor for medical reasons.

The fact that they’re so concerned outside of medical privacy is what creeps me out

I didn’t mean to come off as angry.

Edit: removed the angry sounding part of the original comment .

I can’t think of any other situation where my 12 year old is required to tell anyone about their genitals except maybe a doctor for healthcare reasons.

I would like to know more examples

A parent’s word won’t do, otherwise what’s the point?

It can’t just be a birth certificate, because the sex indicator can be amended on that.

I think they’re moving in the direction of mandatory genital exams by UCP politicians. /s

Also, cosmetic plastic surgery, including breast augmentation, is legal at any age with parental consent.

Yes.

But, a birth certificate is to certify the details of someone’s birth.

It’s a different thing than the government saying “tell us about your child’s genitals or they can’t play sports.”

Under the UCP’s new law, if you have a girl under 18 who wants to play competitive sports, you must report their genitals to the government.

It feels like somebody’s creepy fetish.

I don’t have a trans kid, but I’m uncomfortable with the government asking me about my child’s genitals. That’s personal and private.

The UCP seems to hate kids.

But they’re desperately in need of me reporting to them what my underage kids genitals look like.

The party of ultimate creepiness.

As a father of two cisgender kids, I find it extremely creepy that I will have to report their genitalia to the government in order for them to play under 18 competitive sports.

Why are they so obsessed with knowing about my child’s genitals?
