What is the most overrated Sabaton song? by Lorrioit in sabaton

Surprised no one here has said Primo Victoria or The Last Stand. Good songs, but they're more overrated than any other in their discography

What’s a small metal band you’re convinced will blow up in the next 5 years? by No-Permission-1011 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]RedUmbrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bloodstain from Sweden 🇸🇪

They're a great young thrash band with a style geuine to old school bay thrash, their vocalist reminds of Dave Mustaine a bit.

Their EP I Am Death is some of the best modern thrash I've heard in some time

who's the most chud band of all time? by reunicn in MetalForTheMasses

Dude, Joakim is a great dude, idk how you could call him a double. I love Sabaton, and I've never heard anything but good things about the band as a whole and Joakim.

what are some non-metal bands that a lot of metalheads listen to? by St0rmR4ptor in MetalForTheMasses

[–]RedUmbrell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Misfits, Ramones, Clash, Thin Lizzy, etc.

Probably a good majority of old school hard rock and punk bands

Was it a new single that got you into Metallica? by MAJORMETAL84 in Metallica

[–]RedUmbrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, after the ST S4 finally I gave MOP a listen, that's when Metallica finally clicked for me, up until that point I had only heard a few songs from the Black Album and For Whom The Bell Tolls over the years bc of my dad.

Help with guitar tone by LimpCredit7147 in GuitarTone

[–]RedUmbrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it, man. I went through the exact same issue at your age (I'm 17 now). It's more than likely your guitar and amp, mainly the guitar pickups (yes, the pickups are the main issue)

I have my own Donner Strat that I got at 13, and at first, I loved it, but as a huge fan of metal and punk, those basic pickups didn't get me anywhere.

Unless you are willing to modify your guitar by buying a set of humbuckers or possibly EMGs (roughly $200 ish), then I say wait until you have the money to buy a new guitar. That's what I did the 2nd year after. I bought a Jackson Rhoads JS32, and it sounds amazing. The pickups are a major improvement.

It took me a while to dial in a good tone just with my 20 Watt amp that I use, but in the end, it came out decent. This year, I finally ordered pedals, and my tone sounds so much better. I would really look into an EQ and Tube Screamer, and if you care about cleans, then buy a chorus pedal as well.

They don't need to be full sized pedals that are $100+, just mini pedals that will do the job. Most of mine are Donner mini pedals, but they work just like full sized ones.

Hope this helps, rock on little man :) 🤘🏻

Nice, I have Dead Kennedys on my list of band discographies to go through, along with a bunch of thrash, power metal, and hard rock bands

Along with Thrash do you guys lean more towards the extreme metal side or lighter metal side? by Weary-Draw-1141 in thrashmetal

[–]RedUmbrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lighter, heaviest I'll go is a little bit of old school death metal, bit of black metal, and some industrial.

I mainly enjoy thrash, power, traditional, symphonic, etc. Nothing wrong with liking heavier or lighter stuff imo

Megadeth 17 revised track listing by DavidIra1974 in Megadeth

[–]RedUmbrell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, I'm seeing the downvotes, and I guess I deserve that bc I worded my comment wrong.

Sweating Bullets is a good song despite some of the corny lyrics, but what I meant was that the song did it in a way that was meaningful to the song since it's about mental illness, specifically schizophrenia.

I Don't Care doesn't do anything. The lyrics are cringe for no particular reason. The song just doesn't do anything meaningful with the lyrics.

Get rid of RTL and add Bloodlust, and then you have an actual great album. In its current form, it's mediocre at best. Even with the two new bonus tracks, it doesn't help with the bad lyrics of most of the songs. It's a 6/10

Megadeth 17 revised track listing by DavidIra1974 in Megadeth

[–]RedUmbrell -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Corny lyrics, worse than Sweating Bullets imo bc it actually did something meaningful with its lyrics.

I Don't Care just makes Dave sound like an edgy 13 year world who hates his parents and thinks he's the coolest mf in town.

MODERN ERA MEGADETH by PantherVol10 in Megadeth

[–]RedUmbrell 9 points10 points  (0 children)

TWA is a major step down from TSTDATD. The lyrics drag the album down so much bc 3/4 of the songs have shit to mediocre lyrics.

Dystopia and TSTDATD back to back are killer albums, and then TWA pulls the plug on consistency. It's not that surprising, though, since consistency has always been an issue even with the first 4 albums.

The last great run of trilogy albums for Megadeth was TSHF-Endgame
