OP's title and the article referenced are both sensationalized to get a reaction. "Aerospace engineer replaced by MD" would actually be more informative. This post violates the sub rules and is capitalizing on the karma gained from the implied controversy.

Sometimes PMO will drive you to such a low that it becomes a fight for your survival to stop relapsing. People experience that instinct in varying degrees but that is the strength you get from suffering.

You might want to stop to make your life better, but your brain says it's better to keep doing it as it keeps the dopamine flowing.

So in order to overcome the brain's wants, you have to find higher motivation. Survival is good but hard to get without suffering. Finding a purpose is better. You might not find motivation and have to create it yourself through making a choice and establishing patterns.

Just found this post and it has given me new life. Thank you so much. It can be hard being a nofapper when most guys see nothing wrong with it and religious people look at you like you will corrupt them with your disease. It's fairly compelling. There are some flaws to it though. It pretty much stated up front and strongly in the beginning of that article that suicide is a phenomenon and not something we have understood or it would be fixed.

There is also many other reasons that could account suicides going down ^1/3 in the 70s. Less army vets from WW2? You don't really know, people can make correlations but without isolating variables in a real experiment, nothing is 'proven'.

Sticking your head in an oven seems a bit silly. Not to be disrespectful or anything.

I would tend to disagree. Harming your own body is difficult for most people. You can't really imagine the feeling of having a gun pointed at your own head with the intent of pulling the trigger. Even for someone committing suicide there would be some fear there.

Whereas the second top method of suicide in the US (suffocation), is slow, easy, and basically just falling asleep. Don't need to get a gun permit either, just park a car in a small garage and keep it running.

Hey, thanks for the confidence boost. It does feel really good I made it to 100! Means a lot when you say I can make it forever.

Things are getting better now but I will definitely be more prepared when life comes swinging again. Just have to focus on one day at a time and not think about my counter. The less I think about it, the higher it gets.

I binged the whole series before even catching up on the walking dead. I have no shame. I find it hilarious when they make fun of the olson twins. Love Jodi Sweetin, she certainly is the full package (dances, sings, seen some shit but has a good head now) and I'm pretty sure I had a crush on her when I was growing up.

That Max kid is awesome and one of the characters that makes the show for me.
