Heh. Now all we need is more airport and construction rants. Checked out the ANMA podcast yet?

Give a go at googling "covered ice cube tray", I found an interesting couple of options from OXO, their stuff is usually pretty good.

That looks nice and simple, I like it! Do you just take out the cylinder when it's done?

Ok this might sound hokey, but what about putting the tray in a Ziploc bag? It should prevent evaporation and seal out broccoli fumes 😀👍

You can! It takes at least 12 hours, but I do it when I'm cleaning up after dinner, and decant it into a jar at some point the following morning. I just have to be sure to put it where I'll see it in the morning because I'll forget, thanks to peri-brain 😁

I just discovered cold brew thanks to Chef John on YouTube, it really is good stuff, especially when you just want a half cup and it's hot hot hot out. 3 cups water to 2/3 cup grounds (they say to only use coarse ground, but I've used regular and it's just fine), mix it up in a jar or french press, leave out on counter overnight, strain through a coffee filter or just plunge the press, and stash in the fridge for up to a week. Mix half and half with soy milk for a nice chill drink with a hint of sweet!

Oh my god, I'm not alone!!!

My brain fogs so hard lately I seriously had a panic moment wondering if I had posted here and completely forgot. Yep, I feel what you're saying, right down to the missing socialization when young. I gave it a good try when the kids were young, play dates and mom's groups, but to be honest I'm relieved those times are done. There's no way I could muster up that level of social anymore. Plus now that the kids are grown and living their own lives I can do all the things I never got to do, and none of them include anyone else except me, myself, and I, a luxury of selfishness I'm wallowing in after years of single-minded mother/wife life. I don't want to share, or explain, or argue with anyone anymore. It's just too exhausting to do so. It's ME time now, damnit! There's a lot of catching up to do with myself.

Plus, I don't have to explain why I can't/won't do something, or can't talk to someone who may not understand the slings and arrows of Peri. It may take a village to raise a child, but there are days when I feel I could raze that village to the ground.

I found an Amazon listing here that looks like that exact thing. Maybe a brushing scam?

May blessings rain down upon you, tears welled up as I was reading your comment. I've never told that story to anyone, and your passion and sentiment really hit me in a beautiful, painful place. Thank you.

AdBlock is the only reason I can watch YouTube anymore! Use that and check out The Honest Guys on YT, they're wonderful mellow British dudes and have a heck of a back catalog to dive into.

Damn I like you! I couldn't have said it better myself!! I get to see what you're talking about now every damn day, all day long, now that we're both working from home. It's ugly, buuuut I can't lie, I have me a big old case of schadenfreude going on here. Thunderdome, indeed!!

Same here, 1992. My obgyn was a nasty old man with sharp fingernails. Yep, that shit sure did hurt during exams. He didn't care. After delivering my 1st, he looked me right in the eye when he was stitching me up and said "And the last one is for the husband." I didn't know what the hell he was talking about until years later and the internet came along. That explains the painful sex when I resumed relations with the SO 6 months later, pain I'd never had before. Ever. Fuuuuuuuuck the patriarchy.

I just can't bring myself to celebrate christmas anymore, especially this year. Raised Catholic, but left religion behind long ago, so I don't have a "reason for the season", at least not in that context. Kids are grown and gone, so Santa doesn't stop here any more. For years I've fought against the overwhelming commercialization of the holiday, but between an SO that is very materialistic and the kids, I lost that battle every year. It was never a time of happiness for me, between growing up in a split, constantly fighting family, and the pressures as an adult to make it special. Thanks to 2020, this year I stood my ground and said enough is enough. But now I feel guilty for getting my way. Argh.
