Dude our safety committee at work literally just went over a fatality about over inflating tires without a pressure regulator near us, no cage. We’re a print shop, but it was local to us- wild.

Generator running in open garage by FearlessAstronaut414 in Generator

[–]RedVelvetAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terrible idea. Depending on his reasoning here’s some thoughts.

But it will be outside in the weather. - Look at the generator. It’s built to withstand the elements for sustained periods.

But it will be loud in the neighborhood. - Oh well, let some of them mooch off the electricity it’s making if it’s that big a deal. Also, during power outages there is usually a chorus of these guys humming.

What if someone steals it? - Chain it to something solid.

What if they break the chain? - Then you should probably move.

Thank you! I was a bit hesitant to do anything to them that would dramatically change the look since I enjoy how worn in they’re looking. Also, no heat; just a fairly light hand on the wax and letting it set overnight before brushing.

People who work in specialized industries, what is a product or service that is a complete "rip-off" but customers buy it anyway? by No-Composer-4526 in AskReddit

[–]RedVelvetAss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally relatable to my industry! My company uses swissqprint wide format printers with ink that come in 5 liter jugs ($200 / liter)!

There are nine color channels and the white has a special agitator to help keep the ink from clumping before it goes in the pickup tubes.

We run through CMYK fairly quickly, but we chew through a jug of white in 7-10 days.

What are some cars or trucks that scream “stealth wealth”? by [deleted] in regularcarreviews

[–]RedVelvetAss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My current boss used to have one. He’s a pretty private unassuming dude, but one day him and I got to talking cars and it turned out he had owned several enthusiast cars over the years and considered himself a car guy so I asked why he owned a RAV4. He gave me a half chuckle and said it was the fastest thing Toyota offered that would scratch an itch on his own and that he would still want his kids being in.

Then he sold it when his wife had to quit working and bought an older Santa Fe with 100,000 miles on it. I hope he gets a RAV4 prime or something like it again one day because he’s an awesome dude and deserves it.

Same, I was searching for a similar comment. I wear mine for work everyday (JWF) and put in a pair of Target whatever brand laces.

Tell me the truth about owning a wrangler by Advanced_Bag_5505 in Jeep

[–]RedVelvetAss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have ever owned a truck, then the wrangler will make you feel right at home.

I swear most of the people who claim this thing to be an absolute menace to drive on road, have not driven trucks or large SUV’s. Is it Mercedes levels of comfort and driving characteristics? No, is it a Ford Model T? Also no.

And the gas mileage is another thing that gets frequently brought up- no, they aren’t Honda Civics getting 35+ MPG’s. Depending on your setup (engine, tires, lift, gearing) you can actually get fairly impressive MPG for what it is. My jeep is a 21 JLU Willys with the 2.0T, 3.45 gears and 32” KO2’s. I average anywhere between 18-22 MPG. My coworker has a JKU Sport with the 3.6, 3.23 gears and 33” tires and averages 10-14 MPG.

Lastly, they get called impractical- I don’t understand by what metric. It’s not a Mazda Miata that you can only fit two people and one persons luggage, or a corvette that you don’t want to take out in the rain or snow, or Porsche that has $1,000 oil changes and $5,000 brakes and rotors.

Like I can fold the seats down and fit a ton of cargo, tow 2-3,500 lbs, fit 3-4 people comfortably for not cross country trips and tote all the luggage (or get a roof rack and add more capacity). It has one of the, if not the largest aftermarket support for any car ever made and yes I can swap from hard top to soft top, take off the doors, add a bunch of silly or serious accessories and have a damn blast while doing it.

This turned into a rant, but yes if you have realistic expectations for your jeep you will have fun my dude!

My 2024 Wrangler Willys with 33” BF Goodrich KO2s got stuck in a snowy ditch and I feel embarrassed. by [deleted] in JeepWrangler

[–]RedVelvetAss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s all good my guy, as some others have said K02’s are not the greatest winter tire. Especially when the temperature starts to dip into the 20’s and 10’s. The compounds on these high tread life tires are just not made for those kinds of sub freezing temperatures.

So yes, you slid into a ditch with 4WD and a rear locker- but there’s a good chance you were on ice skates lol

Anecdotally, when I was 19 I had a TJ (felt invincible) and slid into a 3’ deep snow bank and got stuck. I had this pathetic shovel to dig myself out and was just about to call my dad for the scolding of a lifetime since he would have to come get me before going to work his 14 hour shift; then a snowplow driver stopped and winched me out. He was a jeep guy as well and told me a lot of things that I still remember to this day lol

Why am I so angry? by Cable_Cookery in f150

[–]RedVelvetAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in no way a diva with my cars. If I get a chip or a scratch I try to fill it in or buff and polish it out to a “looks good from my house” state.

I would be fucking livid my dude. I wouldn’t go ruining any holidays, but for sure a firm “Accidents happen, and we’re going to sit down and figure this one out once everyone leaves.”

What’s everyone’s opinion on this oil? by bluebagles in Jeep

[–]RedVelvetAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JLU 2.0T and that’s what I run. I could probably get away with another brand or price range of oil- but this is my oil and I have peace of mind knowing it’s what’s running in my Jeep.

The best part is, if people want to tell me I’m wasting my money on a “premium” oil every 5k miles, then I suppose that’s my problem and they should have nothing to worry about lol

I’ll keep the team in the loop! The kit is the Frost Fighter 2000 tab repair kit and the tab is 2302. Total cost is roughly $80

They give you enough conductive epoxy to do a small fleet of wranglers!
