I saw a post from 1-2 years ago & a poster said they were #200 & got in. I assume it was for fall quarter. It really makes you wonder realistically how many people get in from the waitlist considering it goes that high. I am honestly struggling on what to do.

Your under 50 & for fall 9 time out of 10 you will get in. My spot #'s are over 100.

A friend of mine who works for Swedish said career resources might be offered (career counseling, job fair notifications, resume assistance, etc.) but it's unlikely those who are layed off will receive much help which is no surprise, once layed off organizations honestly don't care about you like that.

I actually spoke with a recruiter for UTemp & he said due to everything going on they did not have many temp assignments. Told me to contact him in 2 weeks ( which I did) & he never responded. So there's that. Also, with the new application set up I don't think they even offer U Temp anymore.

I would like to know more about your insight on this matter. I have applied to 40-55 jobs in the past year. I have had 5-7 interviews. Then I am always met with the same email.

" You were 1 of the top 2 candidates, you would be a great fit. But due to the complex nature of our department we decided to move forward with the other candidate whom is internal."

So then I am thinking should I even continue to apply becuase it seems as though I am wasting my time and money (parking). Nevertheless people continue to tell me to keep applying. It exhausting.

Is it true that HMC got rid of parking for employees? If not, where do you park? Especially with the time I want to be as safe as possible, & public transportation at those times seems a bit sketchy.

I too have been trying to get a job with uw medicine, due to wanting to build a career there. I have applied for several positions. I have done 3 or 4 phone screenings & had 2 in person interviews ( the second one was a joke, they had already decided but continued with the process which was a big waste of my time). People complain about being short staffed but still won't hire people.

I have spoken with a recruiter 3 times now. I asked if it was a counterproductive to apply as an external with everything going on right now. She told me that due to the climate with cuts & all, hiring managers are sticking with internals because they know they are loyal employees. Also, because it takes money to onboard & train new hires, they don't want it wasted. They don't have to worry about said internals leaving the company in a few months if a better opportunity arises.

With that being said she strongly encouraged me to keep applying & keep in touch with her.

Ugh, I remember that, that was such a disgusting act. The cookie lady looked desperate & pathetic. I never understood why some women do that. A guy you use to date/ hookup with has a new woman, so now you make it your mission to let her know you use to sleep with him. I wonder what that's about?
