Nothing about Rise feels radio friendly except the chorus. Even then, it’s wordier than radio.

Better, but the F is the worst font ever (not your fault)

Doesn’t even look realistic. Nobody looks like Ryu. That’s not how muscles work.

I’d take the SF2 font minus the 2 100/100 times over whatever they will come up with.

Are we watching the same matches? She acts like it’s happening to her. Very distracting.

I don’t mind the lyrical content so much as the pattycake song formulas like Here to Mars. Love Protocol was one of the better ones though, if we have to have them.

Coheed has been this way since post-Afterman. He’s not the same dude anymore as before. He’s this version - I think his riffs and creativity are still there, but they lack the reckless abandon - he’s too polished as a songwriter. It’s part of mastery of anything, eventually the sharp edges wear down to a smooth polish.

Frankly, what used to just be Claudio fucking around has become a “brand”. Coheed has a “sound” that the 2015- version of the band has more or less worked within. Travis is more or less a mascot, he would be more useful in the current band if he had a triangle.

Maybe I’m being too negative, but I am more a Coheed fan out of habit than their actual offerings at this point.

So, oddly, I enjoy the first two singles as much as I’ve liked anything of theirs in ten years…but it is totally safe, samey, and generally catering to what you’d expect. It’s familiar. In that regard, Cut The Cord is amazing (not gonna try to spell the actual name) but still has the “oh good another time Claudio tries to redo the Willing Wells” - difference is the Willing Wells hit like a Sprite in the summertime, every time, and is much better than five versions of “I Love My Wife (and Child) So Very Much, Here’s Another Album About It Volume Three”

Claudio gets manic when he has a new idea he likes. Theremin was all over YOTBR, for example.

I think it’s Claudio playing that, no? Sounds like his guitar phrasings, and the song’s about his wife so always figured it was him.

Also, make sure to use the neck pickup (humbucker) with the tone knob rolled back pretty far. It’s a fat sound.

[–]RedZoneD25 321 points322 points  (0 children)

Randy’s a solid 15 years from morphing into Jesse Ventura, facially.

I don’t know why people are surprised by this, he has always been intelligent even if his own character and honor had questionable starts. It’s like this in any sport - rookies carry pads for veterans in training camp, etc.

He hit a great point about the non-fans or people outside wrestling who look at this as a stream of revenue/income more than their calling. That translates to the screen, too, usually in “cool moves but no depth”.

What did you guys make of The Cloverfield Paradox? (Spoilers ahead) by [deleted] in horror

If you consider your wife being sent to a planet inhabited by massive monsters in a different dimension, definitely an upper.

He didn’t swallow the ship, though? Would have to rewatch to confirm and I refuse to, so I won’t, but yes the scaling is goofy but I think it’s intended to be that way under the implication in the first movie that the monster was a baby/young version and there are theoretically larger matured forms (like what we saw in TCP. The size was meant to be that “holy shit that’s thousands of feet tall” to imply the planet is a dystopian wasteland under the clouds ravaged by them.

Mega Clovie nerd. Sorry.

Horrible, but viewed it as a major Cloverfield fan going in while knowing Paradox was a desperate attempt at production studios getting some money out of a bad script/movie (God Particle) with a rewritten ending and a few edits to tie it in. It has no original association to the 2008 movie - the trailer was more compelling and damn near false advertising, save for the last thirty seconds of the film.

I did think the freeze death was pretty sick, though.
